Why is society like this?
It's fascinating how webtoons, with their visual storytelling and serialized format, offer such a unique canvas to explore deep societal questions. For me, working on this project about 'forging personal worth' in an often-confusing world has been incredibly cathartic. We often find ourselves questioning our place, especially when faced with societal inhumanity or when our intentions are 'Misinterpreted.' It's easy to feel lost when the world doesn't seem to make sense, or when the actions of others feel overwhelmingly negative. Sometimes, it feels like society labels us, pushing us into roles like 'Victim' or even, in darker moments, feeling like we're battling an 'Evil' force, whether internal or external. But what my webtoon aims to highlight is that these labels aren't permanent. The journey of building personal worth isn't about avoiding these situations but navigating them, understanding the nuances, and rejecting the black-and-white narratives often presented. It's about finding strength in the 'gray areas' of life, where true character is shaped through resilience and self-discovery. This process of self-creation, of 'forging' who you are despite external pressures, is the core message I hope to convey. I've personally found that seeing characters in stories grapple with similar struggles helps me process my own. How do they overcome being misunderstood? How do they reclaim their power when they feel victimized? These aren't easy questions, and my webtoon doesn't offer simple answers, but rather a space for reflection and empathy. It’s a process of self-discovery, where every challenge, every 'misinterpretation,' every moment of feeling like a 'victim,' can actually be a stepping stone towards a stronger sense of self. It’s about learning to trust your own judgment and validating your own experiences, even when the world around you seems to deny them. Through my characters, I want to show that 'progress' isn't always linear. There are setbacks, doubts, and moments where you might feel your worth is being diminished by societal expectations or harsh judgments. But by confronting these feelings head-on, by analyzing the societal pressures that create these 'Evil' or 'Misinterpreted' scenarios, and by seeking out your own truth, you genuinely start to 'forge' something resilient and authentic within yourself. It's about recognizing your own innate value, independent of external validation or societal expectations. This webtoon is my way of sharing that complex yet ultimately empowering journey, and hopefully inspiring others to embark on their own path of building and affirming self-worth in a world that constantly tests it. It's a reminder that even amidst perceived inhumanity, personal growth and self-acceptance are always within reach.
