A crime that shock the state of Queensland would take place, with the victim being a young beautiful 24-year mother (Tara MÄtekino Brown), an attack so disturbing, she could only be identified from dental records
On the day of her attack, Patea had rammed her hatchback, forcing it down an embankment where it overturned on its side, trapping her inside. While she was trapped in the wreckage, Patea then ran over to the car she was trapped in and used a heavy 28kg concrete-and-cast-iron fire hydrant cover from the roadside to repeatedly beat her over the head and face 60 times, she sustained non-survivable brain injuries and passed away in the hospital.
Lionel PÄtea, her ex partner was ultimately charged and found guilty of her murder, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment. Under Queensland law for this offense, he was given a mandatory minimum non-parole period of 20 years before he can apply for release.
