First day of work

#summerdiary #lemon8contest #daycare #firstdayofwork what a day. No kids today but I got to go to a meeting. We did fun activities at the meeting they bought us lunch. I remember waking up early, my stomach doing little flips, wondering what the day would bring. I grabbed my trusty iced coffee (a non-negotiable for busy mornings, as you can see from the pic from my car!) and headed out, ready to dive in. There's something really special about that 'first day' feeling, isn't there? The morning kicked off with a team meeting, which was actually a lot more engaging than I expected. Beyond just enjoying that delicious chicken sandwich lunch, we delved into some crucial topics. We discussed new safety protocols, brainstormed creative curriculum ideas for the summer, and even shared personal philosophies on early childhood education. It was inspiring to be surrounded by such dedicated professionals. I made sure to jot down tons of notes in my little black notebook – there’s so much to absorb when you're starting fresh, even if you have some experience! After lunch, it was back to our individual classrooms to get everything shipshape for tomorrow's open house. Let me tell you, preparing a daycare classroom for visitors is no small feat! I spent what felt like hours meticulously cleaning and organizing what seemed like endless piles of 'colorful plastic linking toys.' You know the ones – they somehow multiply overnight and find their way into every corner! It was surprisingly therapeutic, though, seeing everything sparkle and knowing it was all set for the little ones and their families. I even got to put my DIY skills to the test, assembling a new shelf to help keep things extra tidy. My feet were definitely tired from all the standing and bending, but there’s a real satisfaction in seeing a space transform. One thing I quickly realized is just how much behind-the-scenes work goes into creating a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment for children. It’s not just about playtime; it’s about thoughtful preparation, meticulous organization, and a genuine passion for early learning. If you're starting a new job, especially in a fast-paced environment like a daycare, my biggest tip is to embrace every task, no matter how small. Each one contributes to the bigger picture. And don't forget to stay hydrated and keep a snack handy – you might not get a moment to sit down! Overall, my first day was incredibly rewarding. I left feeling a true sense of accomplishment and even more excited for what's to come. It's clear that working with children is a calling, and I'm thrilled to be starting this new chapter. I can't wait to share more about this journey and all the adventures of working in early childhood education. Stay tuned for more updates on my Lemon8 journey!
