OFFICIALLY A GRADUATE 🎓
Hey girlies,
I MADE IT! I am officially a graduate and soon I will be a QMHP-T. God is good and I am eternally grateful for everything he has given me. In spring, I will be starting my master’s program in clinical mental health counseling. Congratulations to all of the 2024 graduates!🎓 #Lemon8Diary #embracevulnerability #Graduation #odu
Wow, it still feels surreal typing this, but I officially made it! For anyone out there who's currently "expecting to graduate," I truly understand the mix of emotions you're probably feeling right now – the excitement, the relief, and maybe even a little bit of anxiety about what comes next. I remember those days, poring over my Old Dominion University program booklet, dreaming of this moment. My journey to graduation wasn't always a smooth one, but every late-night study session and every challenge overcome has made this accomplishment so much sweeter. Seeing my name in that 140th Commencement Exercise program, dated May 3 and 4, 2024, felt like the culmination of years of hard work. I still get butterflies thinking about walking across that stage. I chose a light green dress for the ceremony, wanting something fresh and joyful, and paired it with my cap – a small detail, but it made the moment feel truly mine. Holding that large bouquet of orange roses felt like I was holding all my achievements and dreams in my hands. For those of you gearing up for your own graduation day, embrace every single moment. Take countless photos! I even snagged a fun shot in a black strapless top with my cap against a dark background, just to capture the celebratory feeling. It's a day to celebrate you and everything you've poured into your education. Now comes the exciting (and sometimes daunting) question: what's next? For me, the path became clearer as I delved deeper into my studies. I'm incredibly passionate about mental well-being, which led me to pursue my Master's program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. It's a huge step, but one I feel so ready for. Becoming a QMHP-T (Qualified Mental Health Professional-Trainee) is just the beginning of a career where I can truly make a difference in people's lives. If you're 'expecting to graduate' and feeling uncertain about your next steps, here's a little advice from my own experience: Reflect on your passions: What truly ignites your soul? For me, it was helping others navigate their mental health journeys. Research, research, research: Look into different career paths, graduate programs, or certifications. Don't be afraid to reach out to professionals in fields you're interested in. Lean on your support system: Friends, family, mentors – they've seen you through this journey and can offer invaluable advice and encouragement. Embrace vulnerability: It's okay not to have all the answers! This next chapter is about growth and learning. Be open to new possibilities and don't be afraid to ask for help or admit when you're unsure. As someone who has just gone through this, I can tell you that the path ahead is filled with opportunities for self-discovery. Prioritize your mental health: The transition from student life can be challenging. Remember to take care of yourself, practice self-compassion, and seek support if you need it. To all my fellow 2024 graduates and everyone 'expecting to graduate' soon, congratulations on your incredible achievement! The world is waiting for you to make your mark. I'm so excited to embark on this new chapter, and I hope my journey inspires you to confidently pursue yours. Here's to new beginnings!

Congratulations girl!❤️
