Don’t stop answering prayers even if it hurts
I finally became everything you needed—
soft where I used to be guarded,
patient where I once rushed love,
steady in ways I had to learn the hard way—
but by the time I arrived as the version you asked for,
your hands had already let go,
your heart had already found somewhere else to rest,
and all I could do was stand there,
fully grown into your prayers,
with no one left to answer them.
Answering prayers, especially when it comes to relationships, often involves a complex blend of hope, change, and sometimes, heartbreak. From my own experience, I've learned that personal growth can be both empowering and painful. When you become the person your partner longed for, you invest so much emotional work—softening your defenses, cultivating patience, and building steadiness through challenges. However, the timing of this transformation can be beyond your control. Sometimes, by the time we evolve or meet someone’s expectations, the person we hoped to connect with has moved on or emotionally distanced themselves. This can leave us feeling isolated despite our growth. It reminds me of the powerful message in the image I came across, stating, “WHAT YOU WANT EXISTS DON’T SETTLE UNTIL YOU GET IT.” This teaches us the importance of holding onto our own worth and continuing to pursue what truly fulfills us, even if the path is painful. In dealing with such situations, it’s crucial to recognize that growth isn’t wasted—becoming the best version of yourself sets a foundation for healthier relationships in the future. While it’s tempting to lose faith or stop answering the prayers you once voiced, persistence can be a form of self-love. Don’t rush healing, and allow yourself to grieve the loss of the relationship you envisioned. In the end, loving and evolving for someone doesn’t always guarantee their presence, but it invariably shapes your resilience and clarity. Trust that every answered prayer, even those that seem unanswered in ways you hoped, contributes to your journey toward true happiness and fulfillment.
