The JourneyMaker- Part 3
In this section of the Journey Maker Planner 2024 by Nicole Cody, we are asked to write an encouraging note that we can look over as the year progresses.
I chose to write about how I start 2023 with a back injury and how I felt trapped at a job that continuously drained me and how by the end of the year both of those things changed.
I was very real with myself, pinpointing PROCRASTINATION as the culprit to many of my problems. But always being gentle on my self! I know that there are steps to overcome procrastination and overall improve my mental health which may be the big cause of my procrastination.
I wanted this note to serve as a reminder that I can overcome physical and mental limitations and that I can change the flow of my life if it causing me mental/emotional despair.
Do you use encouragement letters? How do you pick yourself up during tough times outside of the “self-care” “use a bath bomb and your problems will disappear” trends?

It's fascinating how a tool like 'The JourneyMaker's Planner 2024 by Nicole Cody' can not only help you reflect on your personal journey but also subtly guide you toward what many of us truly seek: a 'journeymaker job.' When we talk about a 'journeymaker job,' it’s often not just about employment, but about a role that feels aligned with our purpose, where we're actively crafting our life's path rather than just clocking in. My own experience with a truly draining job in 2023 made me realize how crucial it is to define what that kind of fulfilling work looks like for *me*. The planner's exercise of writing an 'ENCOURAGING NOTE' was surprisingly powerful in this regard. Beyond just personal struggles, I used it to envision my professional future. It forced me to be honest about what made my previous job so draining. Was it the tasks, the environment, or perhaps my own approach? This self-assessment, much like the planner's prompts to 'Be Specific' and 'Focus on solutions!', is a vital first step in figuring out what kind of 'journeymaker job' would actually bring joy and growth. It's about 'Meeting myself where I am at' and understanding my current limitations and aspirations. For anyone feeling stuck in a career rut or actively searching for a more meaningful role, I truly believe these types of 'Practical Tools For The Awakening Soul' are indispensable. They help you conquer internal blocks like procrastination, which often holds us back from searching for new opportunities or even applying for that dream 'journeymaker job.' I realized my procrastination wasn't just laziness; it was often a symptom of feeling overwhelmed or unsure of my next steps. By breaking down my goals and being 'Be Kind!' to myself during the process, I started making progress. Think about how you can use an encouraging note for your career. What specific achievements do you want to celebrate by the end of next year in your professional life? What kind of impact do you want to make? These reflections aren't just feel-good exercises; they are concrete steps towards defining your version of a 'journeymaker job.' It's about actively designing a career that supports your mental health and overall well-being, rather than one that continuously drains you, as my old job did. So, while the planner might not list actual 'journeymaker jobs,' it equips you with the mindset and clarity to find or even create one. It's about personal growth that translates directly into professional empowerment. By embracing these reflective practices, you're not just planning your year; you're actively building the foundation for a career that truly resonates with your awakening soul. It’s about more than just a job; it’s about making your life’s work a true journey.
