... Read moreOkay, bookworms, let's talk about the phenomenon that is Rebecca Yarros's 'Fourth Wing'! Like many of you, I've seen this book everywhere, and I finally caved and picked it up. Even just 70 pages in, I can tell why it's dominating #BookTok and beyond. It's not just another fantasy novel; it's an experience. For those wondering what 'Fourth Wing' is all about, imagine a brutal war college where the only way to survive is to bond with a dragon – or die. Set in the dangerous world of Basgiath War College, it follows Violet Sorrengail, who was destined for a life among scribes but is forced into the perilous Riders Quadrant. The stakes are incredibly high, and the challenges she faces are relentless. It’s a true test of courage and resilience. One of the things that immediately drew me in, even in these early chapters, are the compelling themes. Beyond the obvious fantasy elements of dragons and magic, Yarros delves deep into themes of survival against impossible odds, discovering inner strength, and the complexities of loyalty and sacrifice. There's also a powerful exploration of disability, as Violet grapples with a chronic condition, making her journey even more inspiring. These layers make the story incredibly rich and relatable, despite its fantastical setting. And for those asking about the 'fourth wing guy' – you're probably thinking of Xaden Riorson! He's definitely a character generating a lot of buzz. Without giving away too much, his dynamic with Violet is intense and complicated right from the start. He's one of those morally grey characters that you can't help but be fascinated by, and his presence certainly adds a significant spark to the narrative. The relationships developing here are definitely a major draw. Let's not forget the iconic 'Fourth Wing' book cover! The image showed it resting on a 'brown quilted blanket', and honestly, it's a piece of art itself. The 'black book' with 'gold lettering' and that magnificent 'dragon design' immediately catches the eye. The tagline 'FLY...OR DIE' perfectly encapsulates the high-stakes world within. It’s a cover that promises epic fantasy, and so far, the story delivers. Rebecca Yarros truly created a visual masterpiece that hints at the powerful story inside. Speaking of dragons, they are not just majestic creatures in this world; they are fierce, intelligent, and integral to the story. While I'm still early in my journey, the hints of different 'brown dragon' types and their unique bonds with riders are enough to pique any fantasy lover's interest. The bond between rider and dragon is central, and it's clear these aren't just pets but powerful, sentient beings with their own personalities and agendas. If you're looking for a book that will keep you up late, challenge your expectations, and immerse you in a world of dragons, war, and compelling characters, 'Fourth Wing' is absolutely worth the read. I can already tell this isn't just a book; it's an obsession in the making!

Girl i feel you lol. I’m such a mood reader. So ever though i have a must reads list, I’ll still pick up a book that’s not on it every once in awhile. Also, i just read Fourth wing for the first time a couple months ago, and it was so hard to put it down. Now im reading iron flame and have the same issue 🤣

I liked fourth wing but hated the ending of iron flame which is just my opinion. I’m really hoping the author redeems herself when the third book drops:
