ROBBED
Ugh, has anyone else ever felt totally ROBBED in a Marvel game? I mean, that truly gut-wrenching feeling when victory is snatched away right at the last second, often by some unexpected play or overwhelming opponent. I just had a match where I felt like it was literally taken from me – 'IGET ROBBED' was my exact thought process. I swear, sometimes it feels like opponents are throwing a literal 'distraction grenade' to mess with your focus. Think about those characters with abilities that stun, disorient, or pull you out of position. In a game where you're trying to secure a crucial objective, like protecting the Yggdrasill Tapping Device, a well-timed crowd control ability can completely turn the tide. One moment you're about to seal the deal, the next your entire team is in chaos, and the objective is lost. It’s like they prevent Jarnbjorn from reaching Yggdrasill, if you know what I mean – stopping a powerful play before it even happens. And then there's that 'one-armed robber' player – the solo hero or villain who seems to single-handedly dismantle your team's efforts. Maybe it's a super-skilled player dominating with a specific character, or someone who perfectly executes a game-winning move. It's frustrating when you feel like one person just 'took' your win, even if your team had a solid strategy. I remember a match where my team, including a powerful Doctor Strange, was so close to securing the win. We had good synergy, and we were pushing hard. But then, a key teammate, 'SoulBeru', either disconnected or got taken out at the worst possible moment. Suddenly, it felt like the entire game was slipping away, and we were 'robbed' of our hard-earned progress. You see 'VICTORY' pop up for the other side, and you're just left thinking, 'How did that happen? Washed on ow indeed!' So, how do you deal with these moments? My personal strategy is to try and regroup. Communication with YOUR TEAM is absolutely key – even if it feels like you're yelling into the void. Identifying who the 'distraction grenade' thrower is on the enemy team, or who the 'one-armed robber' carry is, can help you focus your counter-strategy next time. Sometimes, it's not about being outplayed across the board, but about being caught off guard by one specific tactic. It's tough not to rage, especially when you're deeply invested in a match, but every 'robbed' victory is a lesson. Was there a way to counter their distraction? Could we have focused down that single powerful player earlier? These are the questions I try to ask myself. What are your experiences? Have you encountered similar situations in Marvel games where you felt completely robbed of a win? How do you stay calm and prepare for the next match?
