The Good Shepherd

Today we learned about Jesus, our Good Shepherd—who knows us, loves us, and keeps us safe.

We prayed, thanked Him for His kindness, and learned how we can care for others too.

“He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.” – John 10:3

Jesus is always with us, and we are never alone!

... Read moreLearning about Jesus as our Good Shepherd today really touched my heart. It made me reflect on how truly special and loved we are! I remember seeing beautiful illustrations of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, gently holding a lamb and carrying his staff, and it always brought me such a sense of peace. It's so comforting to imagine that protective presence, just like the image of Him in a green hilly landscape, watching over us with a peaceful expression. When I see an illustration of Jesus holding a lamb, it reminds me of His gentle strength and how He cradles us in His care, offering profound love and guidance. The lesson on John 10, especially the part about Him knowing us by name and leading us out, really stuck with me. It’s not just a general love; it’s a personal, intimate connection. Think about a shepherd with his sheep – he knows each one, their quirks, their needs. That’s how Jesus is with us. He offers that kind of deep guidance and never-ending protection. When I feel lost or worried, picturing Jesus guiding me, just like a shepherd carefully leading his sheep with his staff, brings immense comfort. He truly keeps us safe from harm and directs our path. It's a sign of the Good Shepherd's unwavering commitment to His flock. It also got me thinking about Jesus's incredible kindness. The original article mentioned how we can care for others too, and that's a key part of what being a follower of the Good Shepherd means. If Jesus shows us so much love, protection, and kindness, shouldn't we try to reflect that in our own lives? I've been trying to find little ways to be kinder to my family and friends, to offer a helping hand, or just listen when someone needs to talk. It's like being a 'little shepherd' in our own circles, spreading that same compassionate spirit and showing others the love we receive. Even small acts of kindness can make a big difference, just as Jesus teaches us through His example. One of my favorite takeaways is knowing that Jesus is always with us, and we are never alone. This isn't just a nice thought; it’s a powerful truth that can carry us through any day. Whether I'm facing a tough challenge or just feeling a bit down, remembering that Jesus is my Shepherd, ready to offer His love, guidance, and safety, changes everything. It’s a wonderful feeling to know He leads us, loves us, and keeps us safe, just as the Bible tells us in John 10:11, "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." This verse truly encapsulates His ultimate sacrifice and unending care. So next time you feel alone or unsure, remember your Good Shepherd is always there, protecting you, guiding you, and loving you.
