I've been reflecting deeply on James 3:13 lately, and the NLT translation from the image really hit home for me: "If you are wise and understand God's ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom." It's such a powerful call to action, isn't it? It challenges us to not just know wisdom, but to live it out. For me, this isn't just about having head knowledge; it's about what we do, how we treat others, and the spirit in which we do it. When I think about 'humility in action,' it's not about being a doormat or downplaying your gifts. Instead, it's about understanding that any good in us, any wisdom we possess, comes from a higher source. It's about serving without needing applause, giving credit where it's due, and being open to learning from everyone, regardless of their status. This kind of humility makes our 'good works' truly impactful because they're not self-serving, but borne out of genuine love and a desire to bless others. It’s a beautiful cycle where wisdom guides our actions, and humility ensures those actions truly reflect God's ways. Living an 'honorable life' is another key takeaway from this verse. It means walking with integrity, even when no one is watching. It means being honest, kind, and just in all our dealings. It's about being known for our character, not just our accomplishments. And this connects so deeply to the broader context of James, especially when you look at verses like James 3:13-18. Here, James contrasts earthly wisdom, which is often self-seeking and chaotic, with heavenly wisdom – the kind that is pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. The honorable life James 3:13 speaks of clearly stems from this heavenly wisdom. It also brings to mind other scriptures that speak to how we live. For example, when I think about the 'good works' and 'honorable life' mentioned in James 3:13, my mind sometimes wanders to Galatians 5:19-21, which lists the 'works of the flesh,' like sexual immorality, impurity, hatred, discord, jealousy, and anger. These are such a stark contrast to the life led by wisdom and humility! Living honorably, doing good works with humility, is essentially walking in the opposite spirit of those destructive actions. It's about letting God's wisdom guide us away from those pitfalls and towards a life that truly reflects His character. It's a daily choice to cultivate that 'wise and understanding heart' so that our actions naturally align with His will. So, for me, James 3:13 isn't just a verse to read; it's a blueprint for a life that truly matters. It encourages me to constantly check my motives and ensure my actions are flowing from genuine wisdom and humble service. How do you strive to live an honorable life filled with good works and humility?

We all are aware it’s the last days so way not spend them as kind and full of grace and mercy as possible… treating others the way we would treat our selves and better knowing God places good intentions in our hearts it’s up to us to act on them
