my evil eye story 🧿
my sister bought me two evil eye charms that i’d planned on wrapping around my wedding bouquet but because of how my bouquet was held together, i chose to wear the charms as a bracelet instead. during my reception, one of the charms had fallen off. i didn’t know it at the time but my sister’s mother in law had dedicated a protection prayer for my husband and i for our wedding. she has a real gold evil eye charm that she wears on her at all times. she said she regularly cleanses the charm with holy water, sets it out in the sun to dry and prays over it daily. when she went to use the restroom after dinner, she noticed the charm had fallen into the top of her gown. she said she normally pins the charm to her top so she’s unsure of how the charm came off when the pin was still securely in place. apparently, that’s never happened before.
Evil eye charms have been used for centuries as talismans believed to protect against negative energies and ill intentions. They are often incorporated into weddings as symbols of blessing and safeguarding the newlyweds from harm. Wearing these charms as jewelry, such as bracelets, necklaces, or incorporating them into bouquets—like in the story—adds a personal and sentimental touch to the ceremony. Many people who cherish evil eye charms also practice cleansing rituals to keep their spiritual energy pure and effective. Common methods include washing the charm with holy water, exposing it to sunlight to dry and recharge, and performing daily prayers or affirmations. These actions symbolize maintaining the charm’s power and keeping negative influences at bay. Interestingly, unusual occurrences with evil eye charms, such as a charm falling off unexpectedly while securely pinned, can be seen as signs that the charm has absorbed negative energy and needs to be refreshed or replaced. Such experiences often strengthen the belief in the charm’s protective qualities. Integrating evil eye charms into wedding traditions is a beautiful way to honor cultural heritage and express hope for safety and happiness. Brides and grooms may choose different ways to wear or display these charms, tailoring to their unique wedding style and personal beliefs. Whether worn on the body or given as gifts, these charms carry deep meaning and foster a sense of spiritual security during life’s important milestones.

Wow, the universe definitely has a way of working things out, especially on your wedding day! So glad the charm found its way back.
