Hola 🍋 friends! I’m Kit
I teach Pilates, train next generation Pilates teachers, co-own a studio and I did this after I turned 35. Age is legit just a number, and honestly my OG feminist rage has truly kept my spirit energized. Before Pilates took over I worked in NYC in fashion publication (by day) and theater (by night) for a very long time.
I’m on the Lemon to keep watching my fav TT creators and maybe drop some good tips here and there.
So many of you have been curious about my journey into the world of Pilates and what it means to be a 'Dragon Mama' in movement. It's truly more than just a title; it's a philosophy that guides my teaching and my studio. After years in the bustling NYC fashion and theater scenes, I found my true calling in Pilates, not just as a practitioner, but as someone driven to share its transformative power. As a Pilates teacher and studio owner, my goal is to make mindful movement accessible to everyone, no matter their age or background. I'm passionate about training the next generation of Pilates teachers, ensuring that the integrity and innovation of this practice continue to thrive. My approach to teaching isn't just about the exercises; it's about understanding your body, fostering a deep connection between mind and movement, and discovering how "Movement is nutrition for the soul." I believe that every session should empower you, leaving you feeling stronger, more flexible, and more connected to yourself. My background as a retired theater clown and artist also brings a unique, creative flair to my teaching, making each class engaging and truly special. At my studio, we cultivate an environment where learning and growth are celebrated. We explore various techniques, from foundational Pilates to more advanced movements, always prioritizing safety and proper form. You might even find us incorporating innovative tools, like using a specialized 'headstand stool' for safe inversions, or exploring the versatility of a 'MAGIC CIRCLE' to deepen core engagement. I love sharing practical, free exercise tips, which you can often find in my e-zines, designed to help you integrate movement into your daily life. It’s about building a sustainable practice that serves you. Being a 'Mama of Dragon' and an 'older' 'new' mama with a 'pandemic Kiddo' has profoundly shaped my perspective. It’s taught me the importance of balance, resilience, and finding joy in every movement, whether it's performing a complex Pilates sequence or simply flying a kite with my child. This journey has reinforced my belief that age is genuinely just a number when it comes to pursuing your passions and building a life you love. I’m here to share not just Pilates techniques, but also my experiences as a small business owner, an artist, and a mom navigating it all with grace and strength. I truly love what I do, and I'm excited to connect with you and share more of my world.
