Travel Nurse; Why I became a nurse

I have been a nurse for over a decade, so I have done it all. I have been a peds home health nurse, home health nurse in geriatrics, long term care facilities, ALF, and in hospitals. My specialty’s are med/surg Tele, PEDs, and I’ve worked with critical Covid patients on the telemetry floor at a hospital in Kentucky. Nursing has always been a passion of mine. My grandmothers always had health issues and I just wanted to get them better and help to better take care of themselves. So they were my inspiration to becoming a nurse. I wish they both were here to see how far I’ve come. I would say the pros are, nursing patients back to life and seeing patients progress through their journey of getting better. Cons long hours, barely sitting down or getting a break, mentally draining and physically draining. Your heart definitely has to be in it. Travel nursing changed my life for the better. When I was a staff nurse I barely made ends meet. As a travel nurse I’m not struggling as much as I used to, so that’s definitely a pro‼️We are under paid in healthcare.
