I don’t give a damn if I have to be mean (spit facts) I am too damn old now to care about people’s little feelings when they’re doing these stupid trends with no regard to how the artist feels when they do it. As someone who has tried to steal my artwork in the past, this trend ain’t fcken funny. Be better.
In the creative community, art theft is a serious issue that continues to affect many artists around the world. Trends on social media, like the one discussed here involving stolen and altered artwork, may seem harmless or funny to some, but they deeply hurt the creators who invest time, passion, and originality into their work. When an artist’s signature is erased or their artwork is reposted without permission, it strips them of recognition and control over their creative output. Many creators have shared similar experiences where their original drawings are copied, edited, or even sold by others without any credit or consent. This not only diminishes their efforts but also undermines the value of the art itself. It’s especially frustrating when the artists try to defend their work by showing proof of creation—often called “receipts”—yet are accused or misunderstood. Beyond personal frustration, art theft has broader implications. It discourages artists from sharing their work publicly and can stifle creativity within communities. Respecting artists means supporting their rights to their intellectual property, including acknowledging their contributions and refraining from participating in harmful trends that encourage theft or piracy. This ongoing issue also intersects with challenges artists face from AI-generated art and digital reproductions, making it even more crucial to protect original art and the people behind it. The voice of the artist in this post reflects a growing call for better awareness and respect on social media platforms. If you are a fan of art or use social media to discover new creators, it’s important to think twice before sharing or participating in trends that might involve stealing or misusing artwork. Supporting artists by crediting them, avoiding unauthorized edits, and understanding the impact of your actions helps foster a healthier, more respectful creative environment for everyone.
