Messy Nursery
Come clean my daughter’s bedroom with me. It’s a daily chore in this house. #fyp #comecleanwithme #messybedroom
Okay, parents, let's be real – the baby boy closet clean out is a whole different beast! Just like my daughter's room, it feels like a daily battle to keep things tidy, especially with how fast they grow. I finally carved out some time to tackle my little guy's wardrobe, and I wanted to share my process and what really worked for me. If your nursery closet is overflowing, you're not alone! First step? Pull EVERYTHING out. Yes, every single onesie, sock, and tiny shoe. It looks worse before it gets better, trust me. I laid everything out on the bed, creating a mountain of adorable (but often unworn!) clothing. This is where the sorting begins. I found myself constantly reaching for clothes, struggling to find the right size amongst the chaos, so this step was crucial. My sorting system is pretty straightforward: Keep, Donate/Sell, and Trash. For the 'Keep' pile, I immediately separate by size. It's amazing how many 0-3 month items were still lurking when he's now in 6-9! Then, within each size, I separate by type: sleepers, short-sleeve onesies, long-sleeve onesies, outfits, pants, etc. This makes it so much easier when you're half-asleep trying to grab an outfit in the middle of the night. Now for the organization part. I swear by drawer dividers for socks and smaller items like mittens and bibs. For hanging clothes, I don't go overboard, but I do hang outfits he wears frequently or special occasion clothes. Bins and baskets are my best friends for storing things like swaddles, blankets, and extra diapers. I even use a small fabric bin for all those adorable little hats that seem to multiply! For items he’ll grow into, I label clear bins by size and store them on a top shelf. It's so handy to just grab the next size up when needed, keeping current sizes accessible. One thing I learned is to utilize vertical space. Those over-the-door organizers can be lifesavers for shoes, small toys, or even an overflow of burp cloths. And don't forget about the back of the closet door! I used a hanging organizer for bibs and burp cloths – easy to access and keeps them from piling up. I even considered getting a small armoire for extra hanging space if his closet wasn't enough. Maintaining it is the real challenge, right? I try to do a mini-sort every few weeks, especially after laundry day. If I notice his little arm struggling to reach a favorite shirt because of clutter, I know it's time for a quick tidy. It’s not about perfection, but about creating a system that makes daily life a little bit easier for both of us. Seeing that organized closet gives me such a sense of accomplishment, even if it's just for a few days! So, if you're staring at a messy baby boy closet, take a deep breath. Start small, follow these steps, and you'll have it whipped into shape in no time. Happy organizing!
