Join me for a day in the life as an artist and small business owner! After waking up and greeting all the pets and husband I pour us some @Partners Coffee cold brew. Then I replenish the cold brew stores. After breakfast and social media posting it’s time for the @Fiber Witch Festival meeting. The show is in just a few weeks so we are in full getting stuff done mode. After the meeting I ate some leftovers for lunch. We got a shipment of stationery restocks including washi tape and our Sticker Hoard Reusable Sticker Books.
A big mission of the day was: taxes! We had our third 2 hour meeting with our tax professional but we are officially finished now, hooray!!! I needed hydration after the tax meeting so I had some @Buoy hydration drops in a mini Canada Dry while I folded laundry. A comfort food meal of wet and dry food (Mac and cheese and chicky nuggies) was required. We started the Dimenson 20 Crown of Candy episode while we ate. I practiced some Omnichord for a bit. And finally I worked on seaming my Mooncrush sweater for the Moon Crush Knit Along. Thanks for joining me!

Living as an artist who also runs a small business brings a unique blend of challenges and rewarding moments that many creatives can relate to. Starting the day by greeting all the pets and making a fresh batch of cold brew coffee isn't just a routine—it sets a comforting tone that fuels the day ahead. I find that having a sustainable caffeine source like the Rockaway Cold Brew, which is easy to prepare by soaking bags overnight, simplifies mornings and keeps energy levels steady. Attending to business-related tasks such as meetings for upcoming events like the Fiber Witch Festival can be intense, especially when deadlines approach. Being fully immersed in preparations while managing inventory, like restocking washi tapes and reusable Sticker Hoard books, reflects the balance between creative output and practical business management. These moments underscore how important it is to stay organized and proactive. One of the most daunting parts of running a small biz is handling finances—taxes in particular. After a thorough multi-hour session with a tax professional, the sense of relief and accomplishment is immense. It’s true that taking time for hydration and comfort afterward, such as using Buoy hydration drops and enjoying simple foods like mac and cheese and chicken nuggets, offers a much-needed reset, reminding us to care for ourselves amid the hustle. In the quieter parts of my day, engaging in personal creative practices like knitting the Mooncrush sweater or practicing the Omnichord adds soothing rhythm and joy. Watching favorite shows provides relaxation and inspiration, which is vital for maintaining mental clarity and creativity. Sharing a glimpse into this lifestyle highlights the blend of artistry, business acumen, and self-care necessary for thriving as an independent creator. It also celebrates the authenticity and vulnerability in managing the ups and downs of this path. For fellow artists and small business owners, finding time for both work and personal joy is essential for sustained passion and success.
