Flood or inundation

A flood is the overflow of water that submerges land. The term "flowing water" may also apply to the influx of water. A flood may result from the volume of water within a body of water, such as a river or lake, overflowing or breaking an embankment, causing some of it to leave its normal limits. While the size of a lake or other body of water varies with seasonal changes in precipitation and snowmelt, it is not a major flood unless the water threatens human-used land, such as a village, city, or residential area.

Control

In many countries around the world, flooding is often managed conservatively. Defences such as bunds, reservoirs and weirs are used to prevent rivers from overflowing their banks. When these defences fail, emergency measures such as sandbags, straws or portable inflatable pipes are used. Coastal flooding is managed in Europe and the Americas with coastal defences such as seawalls, the creation of beaches and islands, and shoals. Loss of vegetation or deforestation can increase flood risk. When natural forest cover is present, flooding periods should decrease. Reducing deforestation can reduce the frequency and severity of floods.

Precipitation (In meteorology, precipitation is a hydrometeor, any product of the "condensation" of water vapor in the atmosphere and falling under the influence of gravity. The main forms of precipitation include drizzle, rain, sleet, snow, graupel, and hail. Precipitation occurs when the atmosphere over a region of the earth is saturated with water vapor, which then condenses and falls. Fog and mist are therefore not considered precipitation. There are two processes by which air can become saturated: either by cooling or by adding water vapor to it, and these two processes can occur together. Precipitation generally returns to the ground.

With the exception of virga, which evaporates before reaching the ground, precipitation forms as small droplets that coalesce by colliding with raindrops or other ice crystals within the cloud. Raindrops vary in size, ranging from pancake-shaped for larger drops to spherical for smaller drops. Snowflakes come in many shapes and forms, depending on the temperature and humidity of the air they pass through before hitting the ground. Snow and snow pellets form only when the temperature near the ground's surface is near or below the freezing point of water. Hail, as a result of the formation process, can also occur in temperate climates. Precipitation is primarily formed from moisture above a weather front. If sufficient moisture is present and the cloud moves upwards, it will fall from a convective cloud, such as a cumulonimbus, and can form as a narrow band of rain.

Flood preparedness can be achieved by following the news, preparing necessary supplies, planning evacuations, and following flood warnings., The best way is to protect yourself and your property before an incident occurs and to strictly follow the advice of government agencies when a flood occurs, as follows:

1. Turn off the electrical and gas systems. When water begins to flood, turn off electrical appliances and the gas stove, and turn on the main circuit breaker to prevent an electrical short circuit.

2. Prepare for floods by following the news, listening to warning announcements from relevant agencies such as the Meteorological Department, and having emergency telephone numbers such as

1669 (emergency medical).

1784 (DDPM),

and 1422 (Department of Disease Control).

3. Prepare essential items: Prepare clean water, dried food, essential medicines, first aid kit, flashlight, spare batteries, and personal medication.

4. Prepare protective equipment: Prepare sandbags or waterproof materials to block the channels where water can flow into the house.

5. Prepare an emergency plan: Learn about evacuation routes to safe places and plan for dealing with venomous animals that may escape the water.

การรับมืออุทกภัย หรือ น้ำท่วม

ที่ดีที่สุดคือการป้องกันตัวเองและ ทรัพย์สินก่อนเกิดเหตุการณ์ และปฏิบัติตามคำ แนะนำของหน่วยงานราชการอย่างเคร่งครัดเมื่อเกิดน้ำท่วมแล้ว มีดังนี้ :

1. ตัดระบบไฟฟ้า และแก๊ส เมื่อน้ำเริ่มท่วมให้ปิด

เครื่องใช้ไฟฟ้าและเตาแก๊ส รวมถึงยกเบรกเกอร์ หลักเพื่อป้องกันไฟฟ้าลัดวงจร.

2. การเตรียมพร้อมรับมืออุทกภัย

ติดตามข่าวสาร รับฟังประกาศเตือนภัยจาก หน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้อง เช่น กรมอุตุนิยมวิทยา และเตรียมเบอร์โทรศัพท์ฉุกเฉิน เช่น
