Does rest come easy to you?

Today I have to start with a question, do you find it easy to “relax”? If your answer is no, it’s not just you. This is something I have always been horrible at if you know me well. I feel like relaxing means I’m not doing something that I should be doing. I have come to learn through lots of therapy and research that this is a trauma response. It also doesn’t help that in my “past life” every minute of my day had to be accounted for or I got questioned.

I have made it my goal this summer to focus on intentional time to do “nothing”. To be honest, it’s really hard for me. I do have ADHD tendencies but I feel like I panic when I’m doing nothing. So I have made it my goal to set a timer and sit with my own thoughts for ten minutes every day. It’s not easy for me but gosh is it worth it and it’s giving me back my purpose. You need those moments of introspection to really look at who you are and what you want to be. Plus, rest is essential for our bodies.

If you are like me and being still is difficult for you, I challenge you to practice this today. Whether you sit on your bed, sit in the sun or wherever you do it. Try to give yourself ten minutes of nothing each day and let me know how it feels for you! ❤️

❓What are you doing for YOU this weekend?!

I love you all and hope you have a FABULOUS WEEKEND!

Many individuals find it hard to sit still due to anxiety or past trauma, leading to a constant state of obligation. Understanding this response is crucial for healing. Practicing mindfulness can significantly improve your ability to relax. Start with small steps like setting a timer for ten minutes of stillness each day. This can help you cultivate a habit of self-reflection and clarity. Remember, your body requires rest to function optimally, reducing stress and improving focus. Techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or simply sitting in nature can enhance relaxation. Channeling thoughts into journaling post-session can also provide insight into your mental state. Emphasizing self-care is essential in our fast-paced world, and finding personal strategies to unwind will help you recharge for the challenges ahead. Be patient with yourself, as learning to relax is a journey, not a destination. Start prioritizing your well-being today!
