La maldad del pecado, que debe ser odiada, debido a su naturaleza malvada, siendo excesivamente pecaminosa; y debido a sus malas consecuencias, trayendo muerte, ruina y destrucción con ella a las almas de los hombres, a menos que la gracia lo impida; y inquietud, angustia y angustia para los santos mismos; y porque es odioso para Dios, siendo contrario a su naturaleza, voluntad y ley, y es odiado por Cristo; y por lo tanto, aquellos que lo aman deben odiarlo, rechazarlo, evitarlo, apartarse de él y abstenerse de toda apariencia de él; como toda voluntad tal que lo amen con sinceridad por encima de todas las personas y cosas; y todo de él, y lo que le pertenece, su pueblo, caminos, adoración, verdades y ordenanzas: y tales son los que han visto su hermosura, y conocen su amor, y lo han derramado en sus corazones; y estos no solo odiarán la maldad del pecado, sino a los hombres malvados; no sus personas, sino sus acciones y conversaciones; y los evitarán, y no tendrán comunión con las obras infructuosas de las tinieblas:
él preserva las almas de sus santos;
que son apartados por él, y elegidos en él para ser santos; que son santificados por su sangre, y por su Espíritu y gracia, y a quienes se les hace santificación: las "almas" de estos, su parte mejor y más noble, que son queridas por él, y él ha redimido por su sangre, y cuya salvación ha obtenido, y ellos todavía reciben, él "preserva" del mal del pecado, de su poder gobernante y condenatorio ,de una apostasía final y total por él, de la ruina y destrucción a través de él, de ser heridos por la muerte segunda; y él los preserva de todos sus enemigos, el pecado, Satanás y el mundo, de ser destruidos por ellos, a salvo de su reino y gloria; por lo tanto, él debe ser amado, y el pecado debe ser odiado por ellos:

The evil of sin, which is to be hated, because of the evil nature of it, it being exceeding sinful; and because of its evil consequences, bringing death, ruin, and destruction with it to the souls of men, unless grace prevents; and disquietude, distress, and trouble to the saints themselves; and because it is hateful to God, being contrary to his nature, will, and law, and is hated by Christ; and therefore those that love him should hate that, shun it, avoid it, depart from it, and abstain from all appearance of it; as all such will that love him in sincerity above all persons and things; and all of him, and that belong to him, his people, ways, worship, truths, and ordinances: and such are they that have seen the loveliness of him, and know his love, and have had it shed abroad in their hearts; and these will not only hate the evil of sin, but evil men; not their persons, but their actions and conversations; and will avoid them, and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness:
he preserveth the souls of his saints;
that are set apart by him, and chosen in him to be holy; that are sanctified by his blood, and by his Spirit and grace, and to whom he is made sanctification: the "souls" of these, their better and more noble part, which are dear to him, and he has redeemed by his blood, and whose salvation he has obtained, and they still receive, he "preserves" from the evil of sin, from its governing and damning power, from a final and total apostasy by it, from ruin and destruction through it, from being hurt by the second death; and he preserves them from all their enemies, sin, Satan, and the world, from being destroyed by them, safe to his kingdom and glory; therefore he is to be loved, and sin to be hated by them:

In everyday life, applying this principle means making conscious choices that reflect God’s holiness, such as avoiding harmful habits, seeking fellowship with like-minded believers, and nurturing a heart sensitive to God’s guidance. The journey isn’t perfect, but this verse provides a grounded, hopeful foundation for living in sincere devotion. Overall, Psalm 97:10 encourages believers to cultivate a deep, sincere love for the Lord that naturally results in rejecting evil and embracing a life of holiness. By reflecting on this passage, I’ve grown in both faith and a clearer understanding of what it means to be preserved by God amidst life’s spiritual battles.
