親が亡くなった直後から遺産相続まで、対応すべきお金に関する手続きは多岐にわたり、期限が厳しく設定されているものが多いので、早急かつ正確な対応が求められます。私自身も身近な家族を亡くした経験があり、その際に痛感したのは、事前にきちんと情報共有していなかったために慌てて対応しなければならなかったことです。 まずは「死亡届」の提出や「火葬許可証」の取得など、7日以内に行うべき手続きを理解しておくことが大切です。これらは役所や病院など複数の窓口に提出しますが、提出時には死亡診断書などオリジナル書類の原本提出が必要となるため、コピーをしっかり取っておくことをおすすめします。 また、葬儀後1ヶ月以内に進めるべき手続きとしては、遺言書の検認や国民年金の受給停止手続き、健康保険証の返還などがあります。これらはそれぞれ役所や年金事務所など関係機関によって窓口が分かれています。誰がどの手続きをいつまでに行うのか、リストを作って家族間で共有しておくとミスが減ります。 さらに、1年以内に終わらせたい相続放棄や限定承認の申請や税務署への所得税や相続税の申告もあります。相続手続きは複雑で、場合によっては専門家への相談が必要になることもあります。特に財産の範囲や借金の有無を正確に把握し、適切な対応をとることが今後のトラブル回避につながります。 手続きの中には亡くなった方のクレジットカードや契約していたサービスの解約も含まれ、これを怠ると不要な請求が続いてしまうケースもあります。生命保険金や埋葬費の支給申請は2年以内、遺族年金請求は5年以内と時効もあるため、期限管理が重要です。 私の経験では、「家族のためにできること」の章にあるように、普段から通帳や印鑑、保険証券などの保管場所を家族間で共有し、いざという時にすぐに情報を取り出せるようにすることが大変役立ちました。これがあることで手続きの漏れを防ぎ、精神的な負担も軽減できます。 最後に、これらの手続きを円滑に進めるためにも、責任者を決めておくこと、そして可能ならばファイナンシャルプランナーなど専門家に早期相談することをおすすめします。事前知識を持つことで突然の不測の事態にも冷静に対応でき、家族一同が安心して未来を迎えられると感じています。
