Speaking of 'beach cabins,' if you're picturing actual small bungalows on the sand, those are pretty rare in Miami. While these can be a splurge for a student budget, sometimes splitting the cost with a group of friends makes it totally worth it for a day of luxury and social distancing! Alternatively, packing a good quality beach umbrella and finding a slightly less dense spot to set up your own 'base camp' can create a similar feeling of having your own space. I found some great spots near the lifeguard towers where the density seemed a little less intense. It’s not just about the beach either. When the crowds felt overwhelming, I loved exploring other parts of Miami. Lincoln Road Mall offers a great escape with shops and cafes, and the Art Deco Historic District is fantastic for a walk and some cool photos without feeling crushed. Even just exploring a different restaurant district or taking a walk through a quieter park nearby can give you that much-needed reset. For students, remember that safety in numbers is always a good idea, especially in crowded places. Keep an eye on your belongings, stay hydrated, and don't forget the sunscreen! Despite the crowds, Miami is an incredible place for Spring Break 2023. With a little planning and an open mind to explore different timings and locations, you can absolutely have an amazing time without feeling completely overwhelmed.
