Examine your thoughts pt2
There are times when I think to myself, why does my soul feel so down and disturbed within me? Times when I ask “how long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart?” These days feel so long to me, feeling spiritually tired and emotionally drained, I start to feel sick of trying to outrun my thoughts. This feeling then turns into a headache when I try to find something to distract myself with and pass the time, I realize that it won’t work and those thoughts are still making themselves heard. I drive myself weak trying to escape my thoughts, I end up imagining what it would be like if I didn’t have any. If my mind was completely silent. “But he said to me:” ”my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”. So I will put my hope in God and yet praise him, my savior and my God. “By prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think of such things.

Practicing gratitude and presenting our requests to God helps to alleviate anxiety and cultivate a sense of peace. It is also vital to recognize that everyone’s spiritual journey is unique. Some find comfort in community prayers or counseling, while others might benefit from journaling their thoughts. Finding healthy outlets to express one's struggles can facilitate healing. As believers, remembering that grace is sufficient and actively engaging in practices that nurture our minds can lead to significant emotional shifts. Just as Philippians 4:6-8 highlights the importance of thinking about what is praiseworthy, cultivating a mindset aligned with positivity can transform not just thoughts, but also well-being.
