The Eyes Are The Best Part👀👀👀

I gave this book 4/5 stars, and here’s my pros and cons explaining why I rated it like that:

PROS:

1. Had me sitting in anticipation to see what would happen to one of the characters multiple times ⏰

2. Gore was very descriptive and uncomfortable to read (in a horror book way ofc)😵‍💫

3. An easy read with a story that makes you feel the narrators pain and struggles.😰

CONS:

1. The story took until reading about 70% of the book to get to the thick of the plot and the reason we read the book (obvi for the gore)🫠

Overall this book was a great gory read and I would easily recommend it to anyone who loves slower paced horror or splatterpunk novels.😈📖

... Read moreIn the realm of horror literature, certain books push the boundaries of fear and discomfort while keeping readers engaged. This particular novel exemplifies that dynamic, as it takes a slower approach to build suspense and character depth. The anticipation created throughout the first part is key to enhancing the overall impact when the horror elements finally unfold. Many readers enjoy novels where gore is not just a shock factor but is woven into a compelling narrative that explores human emotions, struggles, and the psychological toll of horrific events. This book successfully navigates those themes, contributing to the emotional weight that enhances the eerie atmosphere. Moreover, the splatterpunk genre has garnered a devoted following due to its unapologetic embrace of graphic content and dark humor. For those already familiar with this genre, expecting an intense journey through both fear and empathy is paramount. The book's slow-paced build-up may not resonate with every reader, but those who appreciate depth alongside terror will find themselves captivated. If you're searching for the best in horror literature, this title may be just what you need, merging a vivid writing style with raw, uncomfortable truths that resonate with every page.
