私が大宮で「カレーならここ」と思ってるのが、欧風カレーGii 桜木町店。大宮駅から近くて行きやすいので、平日ランチでも週末でも使いやすいです。 まず嬉しいのが、注文してしばらくすると“じゃがバター”が先に出てくるところ。カレーが来るまでの待ち時間にちょっとつまめて、胃が温まる感じがします。こういう小さなサービスって、リピートしたくなるポイント。 この日は 定番のチキンカレーを注文。チキンは「塊がゴロッと」入っていて、しっかり食べ応えがあります。ルーは欧風らしいコクがありつつ、フルーツっぽい甘みも感じるタイプで、辛すぎないのに奥行きがある味。辛さが得意じゃない人でも食べやすいと思います。 個人的に良かったのが「最初からチーズが乗ってない」こと。途中で味に変化をつけやすくて、最後まで飽きずに食べられました。卓上にレーズン・福神漬け・らっきょうがセルフで置いてあるので、甘みや酸味を足して味変するのも楽しいです。私は後半にらっきょう多めで一気にさっぱり寄せにしました。 サイドを迷うなら、スープ＋ボートサラダのセットを付けると満足度が上がります。カレーってつい炭水化物寄りになるので、サラダがあるとバランスが取りやすいのも◎。 席はカウンター中心で、2階にテーブル席もあるみたい。ひとりランチしやすい雰囲気なので、大宮駅周辺で「有名なカレー屋」を探している人や、欧風カレー専門店が好きな人は覚えておくと便利です。駐車場はないので、電車か近隣のコインパーキング利用がおすすめ。
