You Gotta Like You

... Read moreIn my own journey toward self-acceptance, I've often found myself chasing external validation, hoping to feel worthy by being liked by others. However, I gradually realized that popularity is fleeting and doesn't provide deep fulfillment. The true shift happened when I started focusing on liking myself — acknowledging my strengths, forgiving my flaws, and setting boundaries that honor my well-being. This mindset aligns well with the idea that "Popularity is when people like you. Happiness is when YOU like you." Embracing this truth has helped me reduce anxiety and increase inner peace because my self-worth no longer depends on others' opinions. If you're starting your own #SelfWorthJourney, here are some tips I found helpful: 1. Practice daily affirmations that reinforce your value. 2. Spend time reflecting on accomplishments that make you proud, however small. 3. Surround yourself with people who support your authentic self instead of seeking to impress others. 4. Engage in activities that bring you joy independently of others' approval. 5. Remember that liking yourself is a continuous process — be patient and compassionate. My experience shows that focusing on self-love rather than the need to be popular fosters a lasting sense of happiness and balance. When you like yourself first, you're less likely to be shaken by external judgments and more able to celebrate your unique qualities. This inner peace truly wins.
