needs sanded and varnished my stools

3/1 Edited to

... Read moreSanding and varnishing wooden stools is a satisfying DIY project that can breathe new life into your furniture. From my experience, starting with the right sandpaper grit is crucial; begin with a coarse grit such as 80 to remove old finishes and any rough patches, then progress to finer grits like 120 and finally 220 to achieve a smooth surface ready for varnish. Make sure to clean the stools thoroughly after sanding to remove all dust—using a tack cloth or a damp rag works well. When choosing a varnish, consider options like polyurethane or water-based varnishes depending on the level of durability and finish sheen you prefer. Applying thin, even coats with a good quality brush and allowing ample drying time between coats ensures a smooth and protective layer. An often overlooked tip is to lightly sand between varnish coats with very fine sandpaper (around 320 grit), which helps in achieving an even better finish. Also, always do your work in a well-ventilated area to avoid fumes and ensure faster drying. This process not only enhances the appearance of your stools but also extends their lifespan by protecting the wood from stains and moisture. I found the transformation rewarding, turning worn stools into stunning pieces ready for everyday use or display.

I’m going to teach you how to revive an old cutting board! I have been putting this off for 3 years even though it’s incredibly easy to do. Here’s exactly how I did it (save this for when you do yours!): 1. scribble all over the board with a pencil, then sand with 80 grit, 120 and 150.
