Real Cicada wings 🌿
☆ No cicadas were harmed in collecting these wings! ☆ 🌿
Last year, I went camping in Wyalusing, WI. During this time, there were 2 broods of cicada that were hatching at the same time! The campgrounds were covered in cicada wings! I decided to collect what I could and make them jewelry! I sold a couple of these at the art fair last year! People loved them! 🌱 Had to make a pair just for me! 😊
Cicada wings are not just remnants of nature; they can be transformed into beautiful and unique pieces of jewelry. These wings, often found during cicada hatching seasons, have a delicate structure and vibrant colors that make them perfect for artistic creations. Collecting cicada wings can be an eco-friendly craft concept, appealing to both nature enthusiasts and jewelry lovers. Additionally, it's essential to inform potential collectors about the ethical practices of harvesting these wings to ensure that no cicadas are harmed in the process. This means selecting wings that have naturally fallen and focusing on sustainable crafting methods. There are various techniques to incorporate cicada wings into jewelry. Consider crafting earrings, necklaces, or even decorative brooches. The initial step is to clean the wings gently with a soft brush to remove any dirt or debris. Then, these wings can be sealed with resin for durability while maintaining their translucence. For those looking for tutorial resources, plenty of crafting communities online share designs and step-by-step guides for creating cicada wing jewelry. This niche has even inspired a growing trend of 'bug jewelry', where artists harness the beauty of insects in creative works. As you dive into this unique crafting adventure, you’ll not only create visually striking pieces but also contribute to an awareness of the beauty found in nature's creations.
