This is the inside of an Engine Control Module (ECM). It is responsible for monitoring and regulating a variety of engine functions, such as fuel injection, ignition timing, and emission controls. As you can see the top right of the ECM has a deep burn mark which was caused by the customer using the ECM unit as a ground point when trying to “Jump Start” their vehicle. ECM are very sensitive to voltage spikes and when you apply a current as high as a jumper to it you will fry it everytime. Please do not use the ECM or its mounting bracket as a ground point because it will be the most expensive battery replacement you have ever experienced.
