If you love a book where you can actually feel like you among the characters and the setting of the place. If you love a book with a romance that makes its bitter sweet. The long time friends who have finally reconnected after years. The feelings of long ago creeping back in. This book was amazing and the descriptions giving the place. Makes you feel like you’re there and you can see and visualize the setting. My first read with this author and I was really surprised with how good this book was and the authors descriptive writing. Love it!

... Read moreOh my goodness, where do I even begin with 'In a Desert Daze'? I picked this book up on a whim after seeing it pop up on my feed, and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. If you're anything like me and you live for a good romance that truly pulls you in, this one is an absolute must-read. What immediately grabbed me was the 'estranged friends to lovers' trope. There's just something so incredibly compelling about two people with a shared history, who've drifted apart, finding their way back to each other. The author did such a fantastic job of building that tension, that longing, and the slow unraveling of past hurts. You can really feel their history simmering beneath every interaction, making their eventual reconnection feel earned and incredibly sweet. It wasn't just a simple reunion; it was a journey through old wounds and new possibilities, set against a backdrop that felt both vast and intimately personal. And speaking of backdrop, the setting in a small town within California's Mojave Desert? Pure genius! I'm someone who loves when a setting feels like its own character, and this book delivers. I could almost feel the dry desert air, see the unique silhouette of the cacti against a vibrant pink sky, and imagine the quiet isolation that allows for such deep introspection between the characters. The descriptions of the mountains and the unique desert plants truly painted a picture in my mind – I felt like I was right there, watching their story unfold. It’s not your typical picturesque romance setting, which made it even more memorable and impactful. The cover, depicting a red-haired woman and a dark-haired man embracing in that very desert setting, perfectly captures the vibe of the story. Let's talk about the hero, because wow! The 'cinnamon roll MMC' who 'falls first and harder' trope is my absolute weakness, and this book executed it flawlessly. He's sweet, protective, and completely smitten, but not in an overbearing way. You just want to root for him from page one, and seeing his unwavering devotion, especially after years of separation, melted my heart. It's the kind of hero that leaves you with a warm, fuzzy feeling long after you've turned the last page. His love for her was palpable, and it made the whole 'friends to lovers' journey even more satisfying. If you're searching for a romance novel that combines deep emotional connection with a unique and immersive setting, and features all the best tropes, then 'In a Desert Daze' absolutely belongs on your TBR list. It's the kind of book that transports you, makes you forget your surroundings, and leaves you with that bittersweet satisfaction that only a truly great story can provide. Seriously, give this one a shot – you won't regret getting lost in this desert daze!
