Interesting to say the least — let’s just say
Let’s just say that these are the CALMER — LESS VIOLENT comments—I cannot even believe the amount of hate I have received in the last 2-3 months simply because I talk about politics and sometimes the things I say doesn’t align with everyone’s wishes. It doesn’t change the truth, it doesn’t change anything. I am only informing people of the things happening in this country, along with expressing my patriotism. It’s almost like it’s illegal to have an opinion or a voice online. But it’s okay!!! The ratio of the support to the hate is around 80/20. It would be a different story if the hate, was filled with educated logical arguments but instead, they’re filled with absolute nonsense, and god awful insults that yeah, can be easy to ignore but listen, even Selena Gomez is affected by the hate comments after sitting and scrolling through so many of them at a time. We’re all human. No one’s better than anyone. Except maybe, be better when it comes to being a good person.😊 👍🏼 No matter how you feel about the presidency, it does not excuse the words coming from your mouth! There is no reason to be disrespectful. There is no reason to be this hateful. There is no reason to be this divided. And yeah, this may not even be read in full as it’s extremely controversial and I do not post politically on lemon8. But this, people do not deserve to say such mean and hurtful things without being put on a pedestal. Thankyou for coming to my ted talk.
Sincerely,
A pissed off American. #unfiltered
Reading through some of the comments I've received, like those outright attacks on my appearance or politically charged insults, it really hits home how wild the internet can get. My original post touched on the sheer volume of hate, and honestly, it makes you wonder: where do platforms draw the line? It’s not just about ignoring negativity; it's about the kind of environment these platforms create. When we talk about social media, we often hear about its power to connect, but what about its responsibility to protect its users? For me, as someone who just wants to share my perspective, it sometimes feels like I’m navigating a minefield. When comments descend into body shaming, racial slurs, or outright harassment, it moves beyond mere disagreement into something genuinely harmful. This is where the idea of platforms acting as 'gatekeepers' or even 'watchdogs' comes into play. Every time a platform removes an offensive post or flags an account for inappropriate behavior, they’re essentially stepping in to decide what’s acceptable within their digital community. They’re 'gatekeeping' the content that gets to stay up, trying to maintain a baseline of decency. From a user's perspective, this isn't about censorship of valid opinions; it's about moderating genuine hate speech and harassment that can seriously impact someone's mental well-being. The comments I’ve seen, from suggesting 'lip injections' to outright political bigotry, clearly cross that line. I’ve witnessed pure vitriol – calling people names, making assumptions based on their political views, or even resorting to threats. It’s not just rude; it’s corrosive to any real conversation. When platforms like TikTok or Lemon8 implement policies against hate speech, they're attempting to be a 'watchdog,' monitoring for content that violates their community guidelines. It’s a massive job, and sometimes it feels like they're playing catch-up, but it's crucial for fostering healthier online spaces. Without this intervention, the platform itself can inadvertently become an 'agenda setter' for negativity, allowing hateful narratives to dominate, or an 'influencer' of toxic behavior by not curbing it. My hope is that these platforms continue to refine their approach. It’s a tricky balance, of course, between allowing diverse opinions and preventing outright abuse. But when you’re on the receiving end of relentless, personal attacks – like the ones I've experienced, where people question everything from my intelligence to my physical appearance – it becomes clear that robust moderation isn't just a 'nice-to-have'; it's essential. It helps individuals feel safer to express themselves without fear of being deluged by harmful rhetoric. Moreover, effective moderation can gently 'influence' users towards more constructive dialogue, even on controversial topics. For anyone out there experiencing similar online negativity, remember to utilize those report buttons, block users who cross the line, and most importantly, prioritize your peace. Don't let someone else's hate define your online experience or silence your voice. We all deserve a respectful space online.

I get this from Republicans if I comment on MAGA. Don’t be blind to what’s going on right now. People in power are attempting to divide us. Believe me the noise may seem loud but in the grand scheme of things that is not how the majority of us have handled this.
