What Are Your Winter Projects?
‘Tis the season for sewing! I’ve got a few projects going on (some are gifts - if you’re my friend and you’re reading this, AVERT YOUR EYES).
🧵Skirt
There’s a skirt I made for myself that I’m also making for one of my friends - it’s a wrap skirt that’s held in place by Velcro and a tie. It’s floor length, and made of cotton, so it’s really solid for winter weather!!! And it has pockets.
🧵Pillowcases
I’m trying my hand at these, and starting with a 14” x 14” pillow to test it out. The first one went well, so I only have one more to do!
🧵Gaming Chair Pockets
This one I’ve been having to figure out how to put together myself, because there’s nothing I can find anywhere that’s close. These are pockets that attach to the arm of a gaming chair, and I’ve gotten the first one most of the way done.
What projects are you working on right now?
Winter is a wonderful time to tackle sewing projects that not only keep you busy but also add a personal touch to your home and wardrobe. Whether you're a seasoned expert or just starting, these projects are perfect for the chilly months ahead. The wrap skirt you can make is not only stylish but also practical for winter layering. Using cotton fabric ensures warmth and comfort, and the added pockets offer functionality that's often missing in store-bought options. Consider experimenting with different fabric patterns to give it a unique flair. Pillowcases, particularly those made for 14” x 14” pillows, are a fantastic beginner project. They provide an excellent opportunity to practice sewing techniques like hemming and inserting zippers, which can come in handy for more complex creations later on. Choose festive or seasonal prints to brighten your living space during the colder months. Additionally, creating pockets for a gaming chair can be a fun challenge. Not finding any pre-made options doesn't have to dampen your creativity; instead, it allows you to design something that perfectly suits your needs. Consider using durable fabrics that can withstand wear and tear while complementing your gaming environment. Sharing your projects with online communities can also inspire others and lead to new ideas. So grab your sewing tools and let your creativity flow this winter!
