Philippians 2:13

When I first read Philippians 2:13 – the part about God continually revitalizing you, implanting within you the passion to do what pleases Him – it really hit differently. It's such a powerful reminder that we're not left to figure things out on our own. For a long time, I struggled with feeling lost, wondering what my true calling or purpose was. It felt like I was constantly searching for a 'passion' that I just couldn't quite grasp. But then I started to dig a little deeper into the surrounding verses, especially Philippians 2:12, which talks about "working out your salvation with fear and trembling." At first, that phrase sounded a bit daunting, like I had to earn my way or be perfect. However, when you read it alongside verse 13, it really clicks. It's not about earning salvation, because that's a free gift through Jesus. Instead, it’s about living out the salvation that God has already given us, empowered by Him. It means actively participating in the spiritual growth and transformation that God is already doing within us. This scripture showed me that my passion isn't something I have to conjure up from nothing. It's something God is actively implanting within me. Think about that: He's not just waiting for us to find it; He's putting it there! He's the one who provides the desire and the ability to do what pleases Him. This has brought such peace into my life, knowing that the very desires to serve, to create, to love, to help – they can all be divine promptings. It’s God's goodness at work, shaping my heart and mind. So, how do we 'work out our salvation' when God is the one doing the work? For me, it means actively seeking His word, spending time in prayer, and being open to the ways He might be speaking to my heart. It’s about being obedient to the small nudges and promptings, trusting that even if I don't see the full picture, He's guiding me towards His good purpose. When I feel a spark of inspiration, or a strong desire to do something positive, I now try to lean into it, asking if this is God revitalizing me and stirring a passion for His will. Living in this truth has made my faith journey so much more dynamic. It’s not about striving in my own strength, but about cooperating with God’s incredible power that is already at work within me. He truly does continually revitalize us, giving us the energy, the vision, and yes, the passion to live a life that honors Him and fulfills His beautiful plan. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that my deepest desires can align with His, all because He is working in me.
