Easy Herb Butter Turkey
Ok Halloween’s over, let’s move on to the best fall holiday…
✨Thanksgiving ✨
Here’s my Thanksgiving Turkey recipe—
It’s a crowd pleaser EVERY time! Even people who don’t usually like turkey because of its dryness have complimented this turkey. It’s so easy to make, and the ingredients/steps are simple. The best part is it requires NO basting.

What you’ll need:
🍗 deep roasting pan with a rack
🍗15-17 lb. turkey
🍗 fresh thyme
🍗 fresh rosemary
🍗 fresh parsley
🍗 butter
🍗 olive oil
🍗 salt
🍗 pepper
🍗 carrots
🍗 celery
🍗 yellow onion
🍗 green onion
🍗 1 head of garlic
🍗foil paper
🍗 twine (foil paper will work just fine)
What you’ll do:
🍗prep your turkey—make sure it’s thawed, take all the extra little packets and bits out of the cavity, pat dry and let it come to room temp
🍗preheat oven to 450° F
🍗 wash your celery, green onion, and carrots and cut off the end pieces. Remove the outer peel from your half onion and cut the garlic head in half
🍗chop up your fresh herbs so that you have 1 tbsp. of each (making 3 tbsp. of herbs total) and put in a bowl
🍗to that same bowl, add 1 1/2 sticks of softened butter and 1/4 cup of olive oil; mix it all together
🍗smother your turkey with the herb butter mixture. Literally get it in every single crevice, including inside the cavity and underneath the skin (this will make for some really juicy turkey breast)
🍗 sprinkle salt and pepper all over your bird to your liking, and inside the cavity
🍗 stuff your turkey with the veggies you washed and cut
🍗 tie the legs together with twine OR twist foil paper around them to hold them together
🍗 put the turkey in the oven for 30 minutes so the skin gets brown and crispy
🍗 once the 30 minutes are up, take out the turkey, and lower the head to 375° F. Carefully cover the turkey with foil paper using oven mittens, and then put it back in the oven for the remaining time— about 3-3.5 hours depending on your bird’s weight.
🍗carve, serve & enjoy!

Thanksgiving is the perfect time to showcase a delicious herb butter turkey that keeps everyone coming back for more. Using fresh thyme, rosemary, and parsley not only infuses the turkey with incredible flavor but also adds a fragrant aroma that fills your kitchen with warmth. The combination of softened butter and olive oil forms a rich herb butter mixture that penetrates every nook and cranny of the bird, including underneath the skin and inside the cavity, ensuring each bite is tender and juicy. A key to this recipe’s success is the method of cooking: roasting first at a high temperature of 450°F to crisp up the skin, followed by a longer, slower roast at 375°F covered with foil to maintain moisture. This approach eliminates the need for basting, making the cooking process simpler and less time-consuming. Stuffing the turkey cavity with a colorful medley of aromatic vegetables like carrots, celery, onions, green onions, and garlic enhances the base flavors and produces a delicious natural gravy when drippings are collected. For those new to roasting large birds, a 15-17 lb. turkey is ideal for feeding a family or small gathering. Using a deep roasting pan with a rack allows heat to circulate evenly around the turkey. Tying the legs together with twine or foil secures the bird’s shape and helps it cook uniformly. This recipe is perfectly suited for those who want a fuss-free, reliable turkey that promises juicy, flavorful meat throughout, even winning over guests who usually prefer other meats due to turkey’s reputation for dryness. Whether you're catering a big Thanksgiving dinner or just looking to impress your family with a classic, this herb butter turkey recipe is a guaranteed hit. Enjoy carving and serving this beautiful centerpiece that tastes as good as it looks!
