It's time to Read ✨

When there’s a literacy crisis so everyone at home needs to read 30 minutes minimum each day.

8 year old is reading - Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel

10 year old is reading - Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck

Husband is reading - Itachi’s Story: Daylight

Myself - Big Little Lies (my 4th attempt! I already watched the show so I think that’s why it’s been hard for me to get into but I’m really enjoying it this time around)

I highly recommend making coffee or whatever drink your family prefers, putting on a lofi playlist and letting your home become a cozy reading café for 30 minutes each day.

... Read moreMaking reading a daily family habit can be a game-changer, especially during times when literacy improvement is crucial. I’ve personally found that carving out just 30 minutes each day dedicated exclusively to reading creates a peaceful and enriching environment at home. For our family, it starts by choosing books that fit everyone’s interests and reading levels—kids love the humor and relatable moments in Diary of a Wimpy Kid, while adults enjoy diving into deeper stories like Itachi’s Story or Big Little Lies. To enhance this ritual, transforming your home into a cozy reading café really helps. We pick our favorite beverages—sometimes coffee, other times herbal tea or a comforting hot chocolate—and play a lofi playlist in the background. This soothing ambiance encourages everyone to unwind and focus on their books, turning reading time into a cherished daily ritual rather than a chore. It’s fascinating to see how consistency helps build better reading habits and sparks lively conversations about the books we’re reading. This practice not only improves literacy but also strengthens family connections. Plus, picking books that have inspired popular shows or are bestsellers, like Big Little Lies and Itachi’s Story, adds an extra layer of excitement and familiarity. If you’re looking to motivate your family to read more, start small and keep it fun. Tailor your reading choices to each person’s interests, set a peaceful atmosphere, and celebrate each reading session. Over time, you’ll notice not just improved reading skills, but a new tradition everyone looks forward to each day.
