ถ้ากำลังค้นว่า “life skill camp คืออะไร” แบบที่พ่อแม่ส่วนใหญ่สงสัย เราอธิบายง่ายๆ จากประสบการณ์ที่เคยพาลูกไปค่ายแนวนี้นะคะ Life Skill Camp คือ “ค่ายทักษะชีวิต” ที่ออกแบบกิจกรรมให้เด็กได้ฝึกการใช้ชีวิตจริงนอกห้องเรียน ผ่านการลงมือทำ การอยู่ร่วมกับคนอื่น และการรับผิดชอบหน้าที่ของตัวเอง ไม่ใช่ค่ายวิชาการที่เน้นเรียนท่องจำ แต่เป็นค่ายที่ให้เด็ก “ทำให้เห็นผล” เช่น ดูแลของใช้ตัวเอง ทำงานเป็นทีม สื่อสารให้เข้าใจ คิดแก้ปัญหาเฉพาะหน้า และกล้าลองสิ่งใหม่ๆ สิ่งที่ทำให้ค่าย life skill ต่างจากการพาไปเที่ยวหรือกิจกรรมวันเดียว คือ “มีโครงสร้างการเรียนรู้” และมีพี่ๆ/ครูคอยสะท้อนพฤติกรรมให้เด็กเห็นพัฒนาการของตัวเอง เช่น ทำไมวันนี้ถึงไม่กล้าพูดในทีม พรุ่งนี้ลองเริ่มจากการยกมือเสนอไอเดียสั้นๆ ได้ไหม เด็กหลายคนกลับบ้านแล้วดูมั่นใจขึ้น เพราะเขาได้ชนะความกลัวเล็กๆ ของตัวเอง สำหรับค่ายที่เป็นแนวฟาร์ม เช่น แคมป์เด็กติดฟาร์มม้า (Life Skill Camp) จุดเด่นคือเด็กได้เรียนรู้เรื่อง “ความรับผิดชอบและความอ่อนโยน” แบบจับต้องได้มากๆ เพราะการดูแลม้าไม่ใช่แค่ขี่ม้าแล้วจบ แต่ต้องมีวินัยเรื่องเวลา ความสะอาด การสังเกตอารมณ์สัตว์ และทำงานร่วมกับเพื่อน เช่น แบ่งหน้าที่ทำความสะอาด ดูแลม้า เตรียมอาหาร หรือกิจกรรมอื่นๆ อย่างปลูกผัก ทำอาหาร เข้าวัด ซึ่งทั้งหมดช่วยให้เด็กเห็นคุณค่าของการช่วยเหลือกัน ถ้าลังเลว่าจะเลือกแบบ Day Camp (ไป-กลับ) หรือ Overnight Camp (ค้างคืน) ดี แนะนำให้ดูนิสัยลูกค่ะ ถ้าลูกยังไม่ชินการแยกจากพ่อแม่ เริ่มจากไป-กลับก่อนก็ได้ แต่ถ้าลูกเริ่มดูแลตัวเองได้ การค้างคืนจะช่วยฝึกทักษะชีวิตได้เข้มข้นขึ้น เช่น การจัดกระเป๋า การรักษากติกากลุ่ม และการปรับตัวกับเพื่อนต่างวัย (หลายค่ายจะแยกนอนชาย-หญิงเพื่อความปลอดภัย) ทิปเล็กๆ ก่อนส่งลูกเข้าค่าย: ลองให้ลูกช่วยจัดของเอง 70% แล้วพ่อแม่ตรวจเช็กอีก 30% จะได้ฝึกความรับผิดชอบตั้งแต่ก่อนเริ่มค่าย และอย่าลืมคุย “เป้าหมาย” กันสั้นๆ เช่น อยากกล้าพูดกับเพื่อนใหม่ หรืออยากฝึกดูแลตัวเองให้ได้ครบ 3 วัน แบบนี้เด็กจะสนุกขึ้นและรู้สึกภูมิใจมากขึ้นตอนจบค่ายค่ะ
