จากประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวแล้ว การเริ่มเรียนภาษาอังกฤษโดยโฟกัสที่การท่องจำคำศัพท์จำนวนมากอาจทำให้เกิดความสับสนเมื่อต้องฟังเจ้าของภาษาออกเสียงเร็วๆ เพราะเรายังไม่เคยชินกับเสียงที่แท้จริงของคำเหล่านั้น ในครั้งแรกที่ลองฝึกฟังคลิปหรือบทสนทนาภาษาอังกฤษแบบเร็วๆ ผมเองก็รู้สึกเหมือนฟังภาษาคนละภาษา ถึงแม้ว่าคำศัพท์ที่ปรากฏจะเป็นคำที่เรียนและรู้จักอยู่แล้วก็ตาม สิ่งที่ช่วยให้เข้าใจและฟังได้ดีขึ้นคือการฝึก "ออกเสียง" และฝึกฟังเสียงจริงของคำศัพท์อย่างต่อเนื่อง เมื่อเราออกเสียงคำศัพท์นั้นเอง สมองจะเก็บเกี่ยวข้อมูลเรื่องข้อมูลเสียงที่แท้จริงของคำ ทำให้เวลาฟังเจ้าของภาษาเราสามารถจำเสียงและถอดความได้เร็วขึ้น นอกจากนี้ยังช่วยให้เราไม่ต้องแปลทีละคำแต่สามารถเข้าใจความหมายโดยรวมได้ดีขึ้นด้วย นอกจากการฝึกออกเสียงควรฝึกฟังจากแหล่งที่ใช้ภาษาอังกฤษในชีวิตประจำวัน เช่น ฟังข่าว ฟังเพลง หรือดูซีรีส์ภาษาอังกฤษซับไทย หรือแม้แต่ลองพูดคุยกับเจ้าของภาษา เพื่อเพิ่มประสบการณ์การฟังเสียงจริงและความคุ้นเคย สุดท้ายอยากแนะนำให้ผู้เริ่มต้นเสริมเทคนิคนี้ควบคู่ไปกับการท่องศัพท์ เพื่อให้การเรียนภาษาอังกฤษมีประสิทธิภาพและสนุกมากขึ้น โดยไม่ต้องเร่งจำคำศัพท์จำนวนมากจนเกิดความท้อแท้ และเมื่อฝึกฟังได้ดีขึ้นคำศัพท์ที่เคยจำก็จะปรากฏความหมายและนำไปใช้ได้อย่างถูกต้องและมั่นใจมากขึ้น
