หลายคนถามว่า “เรือ feeder คืออะไร” และ “mother vessel คืออะไร” จริง ๆ มันคือบทบาทของเรือในเส้นทางขนส่ง ไม่ได้แปลว่าเรือแบบไหนดีกว่าเสมอไป แต่ถ้าเราไม่เข้าใจ จะพลาดเรื่องเวลาได้ง่ายมาก (โดยเฉพาะงานที่มีเดดไลน์) Feeder Vessel (บางที่ย่อว่า FDR) คือเรือ “สายป้อน” วิ่งรับ-ส่งตู้คอนเทนเนอร์จากท่าเรือเล็ก/ท่าต้นทาง ไปยังท่าเรือศูนย์กลางหรือ Hub port เพื่อไปต่อเรือใหญ่ ข้อดีคือครอบคลุมท่าเรือได้เยอะ เหมาะกับเส้นทางที่ท่าเรือปลายทางไม่ใช่ท่าหลัก แต่สิ่งที่ต้องทำใจคือมีขั้นตอน “รอถ่ายลำ” เพิ่มเข้ามา Mother Vessel (มักเรียก MV) คือเรือใหญ่ที่วิ่งเส้นทางหลักระหว่างประเทศ/ข้ามทวีป เช่น จากเอเชียไปยุโรปหรืออเมริกา เรือแม่มักวิ่งตามตารางหลัก ๆ ระหว่าง Hub port ไม่ได้แวะทุกท่า เพราะต้องทำรอบให้คุ้มที่สุด ทีนี้คำว่า T/S (Transshipment) หรือ “ถ่ายลำ” คือจุดที่ตู้เราถูกยกลงจาก Feeder แล้วไป “รอขึ้น” Mother Vessel ที่ Hub port เช่น เคสที่เจอบ่อยคือไปถ่ายลำที่สิงคโปร์ก่อนค่อยไปยุโรป (ตัวอย่างเส้นทางแบบ แหลมฉบัง → สิงคโปร์ → ฮัมบูร์ก) ช่วงรอที่ Hub port นี่แหละที่ทำให้หลายงานดีเลย์โดยที่คนส่งคิดไม่ถึง สิ่งที่อยากแนะนำให้เช็คก่อนจองเรือ (กันพลาด Late delivery) 1) เส้นทางเป็น Direct หรือ T/S? ถ้าต้องต่อเรือ ให้ถามเลยว่าต่อที่ Hub port ไหน 2) เวลารอถ่ายลำกี่วัน (Buffer) อย่าดูแค่ ETD/ETA สวย ๆ ในใบเสนอราคา 3) ตารางเรือแม่มีความถี่แค่ไหน (สัปดาห์ละครั้งหรือมากกว่า) เพราะถ้าพลาดรอบเดียวอาจเลื่อนเป็นสัปดาห์ 4) ถามจำนวนวัน Free time/Detention/Demurrage เผื่อกรณีตู้ค้างที่ท่า (เงินไหลแบบไม่รู้ตัว) 5) ถ้างานด่วน ให้คุยเรื่อง “ความเสี่ยงของ Hub port” และขอทางเลือก เช่นเปลี่ยน Hub หรือเปลี่ยนสายเรือ อีกคำที่เจอบ่อยในเอกสารคือ TEU คือหน่วยนับความจุตู้คอนเทนเนอร์ (ประมาณตู้ 20 ฟุต = 1 TEU) ไม่ได้เกี่ยวกับเร็ว/ช้าโดยตรง แต่ช่วยให้เราอ่านสเปกเรือและปริมาณตู้ได้เข้าใจมากขึ้น สรุปแบบจำง่าย ๆ: Feeder = เรือรับส่งเข้าศูนย์กลาง, Mother Vessel = เรือใหญ่เส้นทางหลัก, T/S/Hub port = จุดเปลี่ยนเรือที่ต้อง “เผื่อเวลา” เสมอ ถ้าคุณต้องส่งของให้ทันลูกค้า อย่ามองแค่ค่าขนส่งถูก ให้ถามเส้นทางและเวลารอถ่ายลำก่อนตัดสินใจทุกครั้ง
