Oh no… This Nail Tech did me dirty and I let them!

Lol now I know what you’re thinking… “You really walked out with that shit?” Trust me I’ve heard that from a good handful of people. Unfortunately, the answer is yes 😭 I came in with Inspo pics and I spoke up when I didn’t like something, but still walked out with this.

I’ve gone to this nail spa to get my toes done several times with a coworker during our break. She has gotten her nails done there and I’ve loved some of her sets. So in the mix of me rushing to get things done before my wedding I decided I’ll go there to get my nails done. BIG MISTAKE!! The first photo is the inspo pic, I referred to them as short almonds.

He asked me if I like the shape he did I told him and that I wanted it to look like the picture the shape and color were off. He told me he didn’t know if they had a gel that color and when he tried to reshape it, it turned into a rounded rectangle,. I told him again I didn’t like it and at this point I felt like we were just having a language barrier. Trying to describe I just wanted to look like the picture he re-shaped it again but it just looked even worse to the point that it was in the second pic.

I have anxiety and struggle with social cues at times I felt like he was getting aggravated with me for expressing that I didn’t like them. He kept trying to explain to me that they’re not done yet, but I couldn’t imagine what was gonna change besides that coat of nail polish… the shape was still the same. Eventually, I gave up. I have the equipment at home to do my nails, but when I use builder gel it just doesn’t stick like acrylic.

So thankfully, I got to use to set as a base. I added my builder job with the Nail forms on top of it, and proceeded to file and shape them to my liking. I am not a Nail Tech, but I watched a few videos. I know it wasn’t gonna be perfect, but it definitely was better than what I walked out with and from that experience it has encouraged me to do my own nails despite my arthritis acting up every five seconds. 🤣Jacksonville

💵 Price: $70 (including tip)

⭐️Overall rating: 0/10: I regret giving him a tip I regret even paying for that fucking set, but I’ll give myself a 10 out of 10 for not letting that stop me from getting the set I want

Additional Tips: please don’t be dumb like me and walk out paying a good chunk of money for something that’s not worth it

... Read moreGetting your nails done should be a pampering experience, but it doesn't always go according to plan. When visiting a new nail salon, clear communication is crucial. Bringing inspiration photos is a great start, but it's also essential to express your needs and preferences clearly. Miscommunication can lead to a disappointing outcome, as I experienced. To avoid walking away dissatisfied, consider these tips: first, be patient and ensure the nail technician understands your desired shape and color. If a language barrier exists, try to use visual aids, either through photos or pointing to examples on their display. Secondly, keep in mind that it’s okay to insist on a redo if you're truly unhappy with the results—your nails are your canvas. After my unfortunate visit, I took matters into my own hands. With some basic tools and online tutorials, I discovered how to effectively reshape and paint my nails to match my original vision. This hands-on experience not only saved my wedding look but also empowered me to explore nail art creatively. If nail tech mishaps become a common occurrence for you, consider some at-home solutions. Products like builder gel can enhance your nail strength, and practicing techniques from videos can significantly improve your skills. The journey might not be perfect, but every step will lead you closer to achieving your ideal nail design. Next time you plan to get your nails done, remember that every setback is a lesson. With the right knowledge and a little courage, you can make your nail dreams a reality.

You did a great job! As others have said you should do your own unless it's really complicated. Plus think of all the money you will save.
