The Prajapuri, also known as the "Prajapuri Ghost," is one of the key attendants of Dhavesuwan, the great of the demons according to Buddhism and folk beliefs, believing that the Prajapuri is responsible for the order in the world of ghosts and for eating unruly ghosts, and is seen as controlling or subduing mysteries that harm humans.
In art in northern Thailand, the image of the statue is often found in the form of a "semi-lion man," strong, aggressive, some armed or standing in a warrior's position, which reflects the image of a guardian or a ghost fighter in the city of Lanna, and in some areas there is also a picture of the priest in a two-handed sword position, which the people of Lanna call a "ghost prajapuri," the symbol of a warrior who subdues a ghost.
According to the faith of the faithful, the worship of the prajapur is believed to empower the worshiper, especially in the defense of bad things or sorcerers. This belief is inherited in the Lanna culture and the group of protective amulet believers.
There are many things about Buddha, such as believing that it subdues ghosts or removes bad things, prevents you from superstition or black magic, and protects from sorcerers, and also believes that worshippers will receive the Buddha. The great power is the fear of the people.
Some also believe that worshiping the Buddha can help enrich horoscopes, make work and trade better, have more assets, and help solve or untie the brew when life is stuck.
In the view of folklore scholars, the belief about the Prajapur reflects the idea of an ancient society that saw a "guardian" guarding the human world from the invisible. This belief has therefore been transmitted through the arts, amulets and folk legends of Lanna up to the present day.
