I'm getting a reading shed! I can't wait!

... Read moreEver dreamt of having your very own dedicated space just for books? I certainly have, and now it's becoming a reality! I'm beyond excited because my reading shed is officially coming in 2025, and I can hardly wait to transform it into the ultimate book nook. It's not just a shed; it's going to be my personal sanctuary, a quiet corner away from the everyday hustle where I can lose myself in stories. My vision for this reading shed is already taking shape. I'm picturing a charming dark blue exterior with crisp white trim and elegant white shutters around two windows – just like the beautiful design I’ve been eyeing. This classic look will blend perfectly with my garden, creating an inviting focal point. Inside, I envision a world of comfort and quiet. Think soft, warm lighting, maybe some twinkling fairy lights, and definitely a super comfy armchair or perhaps a plush beanbag. A small, rustic bookshelf will hold my current reads and cherished classics, while a tiny side table will be perfect for a cup of tea or coffee, and a journal for my thoughts. I'm also planning to add a cozy blanket basket for those chilly evenings and plenty of plants to bring a touch of nature indoors, making the space feel fresh and vibrant. For anyone else out there dreaming of their own reading shed or book nook, here are a few things I've learned during my planning phase. First, consider the location. I'm looking for a spot that gets plenty of natural light during the day but also offers a sense of privacy. Second, size and layout are crucial. You want enough space to feel comfortable, but not so much that it loses its cozy charm. Think about what furniture you absolutely need. Third, don't forget about comfort and functionality! Good insulation is a must for year-round use, and planning for electricity for a reading lamp, a small heater, or charging devices will make a huge difference. Lastly, make it truly yours. Personal touches, whether it's the color scheme, unique decor pieces, or a special mug, will turn your shed into a beloved extension of your home. I'm so thrilled for this project and can't wait to share more updates as my dream reading shed comes to life!

Where did you find this shed?

I love this idea! I own so many books. But if I made a shed, I would be tempted to bring my phone in. There would need to be a rule: no cell phones allowed inside!
