Derpy✨✨

Derpy the Betta Fish is like a puppy and just wants to play and have all the attention 24/7! When we got him his coloring wasn’t the brightest and we shortly after found out he had fin rot. Luckily we have since cleared that up and his color is getting brighter! (This picture was right after getting him) He loves to chase fingers and watch as we do our crafts….also you better not forget his food! #betta #derpy #Petlover #fishtank #foodie

... Read moreIt's amazing how much personality a little Betta fish like Derpy can have! When I say he's like a puppy, I really mean it. He's always greeting me at the front of the aquarium when I walk by, tail wagging (or fins fluttering, in his case!). He absolutely loves chasing my fingers as I trace the glass, and he'll even follow me from one end of the tank to the other. It’s so much fun to watch him, especially with his striking dark body and light fins with reddish streaks that really pop against the moss-covered rock in his tank. His fin rot recovery journey was a bit nerve-wracking at first. When we first got him, his beautiful fins were looking ragged, and his vibrant color was muted. I started noticing small tears and a cloudy appearance, which are classic signs of fin rot. The key was clean water – I did daily small water changes and made sure his aquarium was pristine. I also used a mild aquarium salt treatment, carefully following instructions. It took patience, but seeing his fins heal and his colors return, especially those reddish streaks, was incredibly rewarding. Now, his fins are full and flowing, and his dark body is much more vibrant. One thing Derpy has taught me is the importance of a stimulating environment. Beyond his black gravel and colorful pebbles, I make sure he has places to explore and rest. He also thrives on a varied diet – not just flakes, but also bloodworms and brine shrimp occasionally. And yes, you absolutely cannot forget his feeding time; he'll give you quite the stare down! For anyone thinking about getting a Betta, remember they’re not just pretty fish; they're intelligent, interactive pets that can bring so much joy and personality to your home. Giving them proper care and attention, like I do with Derpy, really helps them thrive and show off their unique charm.
