Brandy 🩷 Melville Back to College Tryon
Hey sweeties!
Since being back on campus, I’ve been dying to go shopping and update my wardrobe. I’ve seen a lot of girls wearing butter yellow so when I went to Brandy I had to grab a few yellow items to try on!
The Olive skirt was not my favorite as it wasn’t made of cotton so it didn’t feel soft. I loved the first yellow top and I have been wearing it on campus a TON!
I wish I got these pair of jeans because I’ve been drying to get a pair of light wash low rise jeans. They were long on me, so I would recommend girls over 5’5 these jeans as they were dragging on me.
The Odette top had to be my absolute favorite ❤️. It ties in the back so you can have a more fit look or a more flowy look.

Okay, sweeties, after my Brandy Melville try-on, I’ve got some extra thoughts on making these pieces truly shine for your college life and nailing that effortless 'Brandy aesthetic' everyone swoons over! If you’re eyeing butter yellow like I was, you’re definitely on trend. This soft, cheerful shade is everywhere right now, and for good reason – it’s subtly vibrant and surprisingly versatile. The 'Butter Yellow Amare Top' I tried on, at just $20, is an absolute gem for layering or wearing on its own. I’ve been rocking it with my favorite high-waisted denim, like the 'Gracie Denim Jeans Light Wash', or even under a cozy cardigan for cooler evenings on campus. It’s such a simple yet impactful piece that instantly brightens up any outfit. And let’s talk about the 'Butter Yellow Odette Top.' Seriously, this one was my absolute favorite, and it’s become a go-to. The tie-back detail is a game-changer! It means you can cinch it in for a more fitted, put-together look for classes or leave it a bit looser for a flowy, relaxed vibe when you’re just hanging out. This makes it incredibly versatile. I love pairing mine with those light wash jeans (which were $42, by the way!) for a classic, laid-back campus outfit. But don't stop there – imagine it with a cute mini skirt for a night out with friends, or even unbuttoned over a simple white tank as a light, stylish cover-up. It truly elevates any basic combination, and you can get so many different 'aesthetic outfits' out of it. Speaking of jeans, finding the perfect pair at Brandy can sometimes be a puzzle. Remember how I mentioned the 'Gracie Denim Jeans Light Wash' were quite long and probably best for girls over 5'5? That's a really good heads-up for their denim in general. Brandy Melville often runs a bit longer in pants, so if you're on the shorter side, be prepared for some cuffing or tailoring to get that perfect fit. It's worth it for the style, but just something to keep in mind! For skirts, like the 'Butter Yellow Skirt' I saw, always make sure to check the fabric composition. I was a bit disappointed the Olive skirt wasn't cotton and didn't feel soft, so if comfort is key for you – especially for long days on campus – definitely feel the material before committing. Their classic 'Maeve top' is a great example of a top often made from softer, comfy materials, making it a perfect staple. To really embrace the 'Brandy Melville aesthetic' for college, think simple, comfortable, and slightly vintage-inspired. It's all about mixing those core basic pieces with a pop of color, like butter yellow, or an interesting texture. Don't be afraid to accessorize with dainty jewelry, a cute canvas tote bag, or even a classic baseball cap to complete the look. The beauty of Brandy Melville is that its pieces are meant to be lived in and easily mixed and matched. So, choose what makes you feel good and confident as you navigate campus life. Experiment with layering, play with different shoe styles, and find what truly expresses your personal style. Happy styling, sweeties – hope these tips help you create some amazing back-to-college looks!
