Recent College Outfits
Hey sweeties,
The semester is finally slowing down with Thanksgiving break on the way and I have never been more excited! From grinding way on exams, going out with friends, football games, work, and doing my capstone project it has been insane.
To keep my hopes up through the crazy semester I have been loving planning my outfits each night. It hasn’t gotten super cold yet so I have not had to pull out my big puffer jacket. Instead, I have been wearing my long trench coat with jeans a usually a cute sweater or shirt. I feel way more put together without my puffer on so I am so grateful I can still wear it before it gets cold!

Okay, so you've seen my recent college outfits, and as much as I love comfort, I also adore feeling chic and put-together – that's where the 'clean girl' aesthetic comes in for campus life! It's not about being fancy, but about looking effortlessly fresh and polished, even when you're rushing to a lecture or grabbing coffee. For me, it's all about thoughtful basics and smart layering. Think elevated essentials that can be mixed and matched. My go-to pieces often include well-fitting jeans, versatile tops, and a good trench coat, just like the one I've been living in lately. They instantly make any outfit look more intentional. If you're wondering how to achieve this look, start with a few key pieces. A simple gray v-neck top layered over a white lace camisole with light-wash jeans (like my 'Lecture Hall Fit') is a classic example. It's subtle, comfortable, and looks incredibly neat. For a slightly dressier vibe, a black sleeveless turtleneck with jeans and a sleek belt (my 'Going out w/ the girls' look) is perfect. And for those chillier days before the heavy coats come out, a white cable-knit sweater is a must-have – pair it with jeans or even a white satin mini skirt for a Friendsgiving dinner. Don't forget a white sweater vest over a striped shirt for that preppy, yet polished, 'Heading to work outfit' vibe. These aren't fussy looks, but they make a huge difference in how you feel. To really nail the 'clean girl' style, focus on fabrics that drape well and colors that are neutral or muted. Think creams, grays, black, navy, and soft pastels. Small details matter too – like a neatly tucked shirt, a simple belt, or a classic pair of sneakers. Accessories should be minimal: delicate jewelry, a classic handbag, or even just a pair of chic sunglasses. And for college life, practicality is key. Choose pieces that are comfortable enough for long study sessions but stylish enough for impromptu hangouts. Maintaining that 'fresh' look also means keeping your clothes well-maintained – think wrinkle-free and clean. You don't need a huge budget either; many of these staples can be found at stores that carry styles similar to Brandy Melville or even thrifted. It’s more about how you put pieces together than the brand name. Investing in a good quality trench coat pays off, as it instantly elevates any outfit. Embracing the clean girl aesthetic in college has been a game-changer for my confidence and my morning routine. It's about feeling good, looking effortlessly chic, and making the most of your wardrobe. Give it a try, and let me know your favorite clean girl hacks!
