Kalau korang nak melawat Kazakhstan, korang perlu singgah Astana, ibu negara.
When planning a visit to Astana (also known as Nur-Sultan), it’s helpful to know that three days is a perfect amount of time to explore the city thoroughly. Besides the iconic sites like Bayterek Tower and the Hazrat Sultan Mosque, I found the Ishim River Embankment a peaceful spot to unwind after touring the busy city center. To get a true feel for Astana’s vibe, take a walk along the embankment during sunset—it’s where locals gather and the futuristic cityscape glows beautifully. The Khan Shatyr Mall is not just a shopping spot; its unique tent architecture offers a break from the traditional mall experience and even hosts entertainment options and dining inside. For food lovers, I highly recommend trying Saksaul for authentic Kazakh cuisine, especially their horse meat dishes—a local delicacy. If you want a change of pace, Korean House offers tasty Korean food with a warm atmosphere—perfect after a long day of sightseeing. Getting around Astana is quite convenient. I suggest using the local Red Bus hop-on-hop-off service to visit major attractions affordably while enjoying helpful introductions during the ride. Tickets are reasonably priced and make transportation stress-free. Remember, Astana is a city of contrasts compared to Almaty, with spacious streets, modern infrastructure, and a clean, orderly layout. Its futuristic design reflects Kazakhstan’s ambitions and makes for excellent photography opportunities. Feel free to explore the National Museum to deepen your understanding of Kazakh history and culture. By planning your trip around these experiences, you'll get a rich perspective on what makes Astana unique and why it’s worth including in any Kazakhstan itinerary.
