Read moreOkay, so I've been seeing a lot of chatter online, especially those 'what if' scenarios, and it got me thinking: what if Deku, our beloved MHA protagonist, wasn't just a hero but had the raw power of a Saiyan? Imagine that strength, combined with his initial powerlessness and the constant pressure. It's a fascinating thought, isn't it? But then, it leads to an even darker path: what if that immense power, or even just the weight of his responsibilities and past traumas, pushed him towards becoming a villain, or at least an anti-hero? It’s a topic that really resonates when you look at certain anime protagonists. Take Naruto, for instance. I mean, seriously, if you consider his entire childhood – the isolation, the constant mockery from the villagers, being treated like an outcast because of the Nine-Tails, and the neglect he faced even from those who should have protected him, like the Third Hokage… it’s a recipe for disaster. The OCR mentions someone saying, 'If you treated me like that, I'm a villain.' And honestly, I get it. If I were in his shoes, constantly seeking acknowledgment and never truly getting it until much later, a 'crash out' into villainy wouldn't be surprising at all. He could easily have become a vengeful force, using his power to make everyone who shunned him pay, seeking recognition through fear rather than admiration. The potential for a truly compelling villain arc, driven by deep-seated pain and misunderstanding, was always there. Then there's Deku. Before One For All, he was quirkless, bullied, and constantly told he couldn't be a hero. Even after gaining his powers, he's faced immense physical and mental strain, sacrificing his body repeatedly. The pressure to live up to All Might's legacy, coupled with the constant threat from villains, could easily twist a person. The idea of him becoming a 'vigilante' or an 'anti-hero' as mentioned in the OCR, someone who operates outside the law but still aims for justice, feels incredibly plausible. What if he decided that the hero system was too slow, too bureaucratic, or too corrupt to truly save people? With Saiyan-level power, he could enforce his own brand of justice, perhaps becoming more ruthless and less forgiving than his heroic counterpart. It’s a compelling thought experiment, exploring how far a good heart can be pushed before it snaps. These 'what if' scenarios are incredibly popular in fanfiction for a reason. They allow us to delve deeper into character psychology, exploring the road not taken. We see fan theories constantly speculating about alternative timelines or different power sets for characters. It's not just about a hero turning evil; it's about understanding the complex justifications, the nuanced backstories, and the breaking points that could lead to such a transformation. It’s often the most beloved characters whose potential fall from grace is the most impactful and thought-provoking. For me, the idea of these powerful figures, who endured so much, embracing their dark side, offers a fascinating glimpse into the human (or superhuman) condition. It reminds us that even heroes are just one bad day away from potentially making very different choices.
