KREWE OfAthena

This year I will be a honorary on the float of “ KREWE OF ATHENA “ on March 2nd my birthday year ! The only thing I have to say is I need everybody to come and be apart of this experience with me ! New Orleans has an amazing history about Mardi Gras and it the season that many come and celebrate wearing elaborate costumes , eating beignets , with native Americans who are indigenous to New Orleans and all its culture ! I think this was a honored to be ask to be apart of this and I can’t wait to be on the float . But as I've been preparing for March 2nd, my birthday year float debut, I’ve also been diving deep into the fascinating history behind this amazing Krewe. And let me tell you, it's more inspiring than I ever imagined! The KREWE OF ATHENA is truly special. It was founded in 2004, making it one of the newer Krewes, but it quickly carved out a significant place in the Mardi Gras landscape. What makes them stand out, and what I find so empowering, is that they are an all-female Krewe! Imagine the sisterhood and strength on that float. Their mission isn't just about throwing beads; it's about giving back to the community and empowering women, which really resonates with me. They're based in the Westbank of Jefferson Parish, and their commitment to local charities and community involvement is just incredible. It makes me feel even prouder to be a part of their legacy. Their symbolic colors are purple, green, and gold, just like traditional Mardi Gras, but they often incorporate their signature owl emblem, representing wisdom and knowledge – a beautiful touch for a Krewe named after the Greek goddess of wisdom. I’ve been looking at some of their past throws, and they often include themed items related to Athena, which are highly sought after by parade-goers. I can't wait to see what special throws we'll have this year! Learning about the dedication and passion that went into forming the Krewe of Athena has given me a whole new appreciation for Mardi Gras. It's not just about the party; it's about tradition, community, and creating lasting memories. The founders envisioned a Krewe where women could celebrate together, foster friendships, and contribute positively to New Orleans, and they’ve certainly achieved that. So, as I get ready for the parade, knowing this history adds so much more meaning to the experience. It’s not just my winning year, it's a celebration of a Krewe that truly embodies strength, wisdom, and community spirit.
