Radnor Lake State Park Nashville, TN!!!

The city of Nashville, TN has been changing drastically over the past twenty years. There are some places that are no longer hear, but some have stayed in tack and are still frequently visited. One such place is a place that I used to bike to as a kid and enjoy the peace of this area. It is a state park and located only twenty minutes south of the downtown area.

Radnor Lake State Park offers an incredible beauty right in the Forrest Hills area of Nashville. The park offers a great visitor center that provides very valuable information about the park and the things to there . Additionally, inside the visitor center there are exhibits about the history of the park and park rangers to answer any questions about hiking throughout the park plus wildlife. There are various hiking trails throughout the park and around the lake. The entire park covers over 1300 acres and the views of the lake are breathtaking. You can see wildlife on your hikes from White Tailed Deer, Turkey, Owls, Waterfowl, Turtles, Fish, Squirrels, and other species. It is also a great park for bird watching. The park is open seven days a week from 6:00 am until 6:00 pm. There is parking also at the park our down the street at Strong Tower Bible Church.

For dining options near the park that have been recommended to me by post it note head to Green Hills which is only ten to twelve minutes away. Such great dining options include Green Hills Grille, The Green House, and The Crow's Nest. If you are a fan of the outdoors or looking to get out to enjoy the wonderful Spring weather this weekend head to Radnor Lake State Park for a great outdoor experience in Nashville, TN. #ridingwithkurt

... Read moreVisiting Radnor Lake State Park offers a refreshing escape from the bustling city life of Nashville. One of my favorite experiences at the park has been early morning hikes along the trails that wind through the dense forest and around the shimmering lake. The peaceful ambiance, coupled with sightings of white-tailed deer and a variety of bird species like owls and waterfowl, creates a memorable connection with nature. The park’s 1300 acres provide ample opportunity to explore different routes, each showing unique perspectives of the lake and surrounding forest. I especially enjoyed stops at quieter spots ideal for bird watching. For photographers, the natural light during sunrise highlights the water and wildlife beautifully, making it a perfect outing to capture nature’s splendor. Radnor Lake’s visitor center is a valuable resource. The exhibits provide interesting insights about the park’s history and its role in conservation. Park rangers are approachable and often share great tips on the best trails and times for wildlife viewing. For families or casual visitors, the interpretive programs add educational value to the peaceful hiking experience. Parking is convenient, with spaces available directly at the park and supplementary parking nearby at Strong Tower Bible Church, which is a great option during busy weekends. After a morning exploring, I recommend heading over to Green Hills, less than 15 minutes away, for a hearty meal. The Green Hills Grille and The Crow's Nest offer delicious options, perfect to round off an active day outdoors. Overall, Radnor Lake State Park provides a unique blend of outdoor adventure, wildlife immersion, and local history all within a short drive from Nashville’s urban center. Whether you’re a local or visiting Nashville, it’s a must-see destination to reconnect with nature and enjoy some serene moments away from the city’s fast pace.
