World War Two Memorial Washington D.C.!!!
Today marks the eighty-second anniversary of the Normandy Invasion by American and Allied forces. Last week I was able to visit a wonderful memorial that not only pays tribute to the Normandy Invasion but those who served our served during World War Two. This area is located in The National Mall and recommended to me by post-it note.
The World War Two Memorial in Washington D.C. pays tribute to those that not only served but to the nearly 405,000 individuals that lost their lives for American Freedom. It is located near the Lincoln Memorial just west of the Washington Monument. There are a total of fifty six pillars that represent the American States and U.S. Territories. There is a wall that has 4,048 gold stars which symbolizes one star for every one hundred American soldiers losts. There is a beautiful fountain in the middle called the Rainbow Fountain that you can sit and place your feet in to give respect to the soldiers of WWIi. Walking into the Memorial you'll notice bronze pictures that show tas well as one side represents the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters of World War Two . The memorial was established in 2004 and is open 24/7.

Nearby, the bronze bas-relief panels depict scenes from both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters, illustrating the vast scope of the conflict. The memorial also features inscriptions and images that highlight key moments, such as the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944, evoking the courage and resolve of the Allied forces. Notably, the memorial was dedicated in 2004 but is accessible 24/7, allowing visitors the chance to experience it at any time, day or night. For anyone visiting Washington D.C., this memorial is a powerful place to pause and appreciate the sacrifices of the past. It serves not only as a tribute but as an educational experience, connecting visitors personally to the stories of heroism and endurance during World War II. Reflecting on my visit, I recommend taking time to read the inscriptions and observe the symbolism throughout the memorial—the pillars, stars, fountains, and reliefs all tell a story of resilience that shapes how we remember history today.
