Valentine’s Day Collage! 🥰❤️

Today’s drawing of the day is a Valentine’s Day themed collage! ❤️

I love the look and idea of making magazine collages! I find that I’m too much of a perfectionist and cannot for the life of me decide where I actually want to glue things down and organize it. I never end up making or finishing it - so I’ve decided that I will just draw collages from now on. 😂

I really liked how this drawing turned out! It’s super colorful and the page is jam packed full of hearts and Valentine’s Day themes 💕

Materials:

- Strathmore Sketchbook 5.5” x 8.5” size 📕

- PaperMate Flair! medium felt tip pens in light pink, pink, and magenta ❤️

- Pilot Precise V5 rolling ball pens in red and pink 🩷

Do you like making magazine collages? Have you ever tried drawing one? 🥰

... Read moreHey everyone! I loved sharing my pen-drawn Valentine's Day collage with you, and it got me thinking about all the other fun ways you can create cute collage art, especially if you're like me and love drawing in your sketchbook. While I adore my Papermate Flair! and Pilot Precise V5 pens for those vibrant colors, sometimes starting with a pencil, like for 'pencil valentines day drawing ideas', can be a game-changer! When I'm planning a new 'cute collage drawing', I often begin with a light pencil sketch on my trusty Strathmore Sketchbook (that 5.5” x 8.5” size is perfect!). This allows me to play around with placement and shapes without commitment. You can sketch out interlocking hearts, a playful 'LOVE' typography, or even tiny cherubs before going over it with ink or adding color. For a softer 'valentines day collage art' look, you could even stick to just pencils, using different lead grades to create depth and shadow – think soft graphite hearts blending into each other. It’s a wonderful way to express affection in a more understated, artistic manner. If you're aiming for truly 'cute collage drawings', consider incorporating elements beyond just hearts. I love adding little bows, whimsical arrows, tiny stars, or even small, imagined gift boxes. Think about a unified color palette; while pinks and reds are classic for Valentine's, soft lavenders, mint greens, or even metallics can add a unique touch. Don't be afraid to fill every little nook and cranny with small details – that's what makes a collage feel rich and inviting. Layering smaller elements over larger ones also creates a dynamic look. For those who enjoy 'journal drawings', these collage ideas are perfect for brightening up your daily planner or art journal. I often dedicate a page to a themed collage, using it as a mood board or a visual representation of my thoughts. You can combine your drawings with relevant quotes, small stickers, or even pressed flowers to create a truly personalized spread. It transforms a simple journal entry into a piece of art that reflects your feelings. And for the educators out there, or if you're just looking for 'teacher doodle art' inspiration, these drawn collages can be simplified and adapted for so many uses! Imagine drawing a cheerful Valentine's Day collage border around a classroom announcement or a student's certificate. You can create mini-collages on index cards for quick notes to students or use elements from these drawings as prompts for a fun art activity. It’s a low-mess way to get creative, especially compared to traditional glue-based collages. Remember, the beauty of drawing your collages is the freedom it gives you. You don't need a huge array of supplies. Start with what you have – whether it's graphite pencils, those vibrant Papermate Flair! pens I adore, or even a simple ballpoint. Experiment on different papers, though I always come back to my Strathmore sketchbook for its smooth texture. The most important thing is to have fun and let your creativity flow! Happy creating!
