Drawing of the day: Green Plant Doodles 💚

Today’s drawing of the day is a full page of greenery doodles drawn with green pen! 💚

I wanted to try out the green pen just by itself! 🖊️ I’m trying out each of my colored pens and giving them a page. Overall I do really like the color, but I think this pen looks better when it is combined with other colors (like a dark green or blue).

Fun fact: the background of this drawing is a picture of my ZZ plant! 🪴 I’m a huge plant person and have over 30 plants 💚

Materials:

- Strathmore sketchbook 5.5” x 8.5” size 📕

- Pilot Precise V5 rolling ball pen in green 🖊️

Do you guys have any plants? 🌱

... Read moreAs a fellow plant lover and someone who finds immense joy in art, I absolutely adore exploring the world of green plant doodles. There's something incredibly soothing about taking a single green pen, like my trusty Pilot Precise V5 rolling ball pen, and letting your creativity flow onto a fresh page of a Strathmore sketchbook. If you're looking for easy plant doodles or simple leaf pen drawing techniques, you've come to the right place! I often turn to sketching and drawing as a form of therapeutic painting. Creating these green plant doodles is one of my favorite ways to de-stress. You don't need to be an expert artist; the beauty of doodles lies in their simplicity and freedom. To get started with your own doodle page ideas, try observing real green plants around you, just like I do with my ZZ plant and the over 30 other plants I cherish. Pay attention to the different leaf and plant designs – some are broad and round, others long and slender, some have jagged edges, while others are perfectly smooth. Here’s a simple trick for easy plant doodles: start with basic shapes. For leaves, think of ovals, teardrops, or even simple heart shapes. You can then add a central vein and smaller lines branching out to create a more natural look. For stems, flowing curved lines work wonders. Don't be afraid to experiment with different patterns within your leaves – tiny dots, stripes, or cross-hatching can add intricate green ink doodles to your artwork. This makes the color pen drawing easy and enjoyable, even for beginners. To make your sketchbook truly unique, consider creating a variety of plant forms. You could draw simple potted plants, hanging vines, delicate sprigs, or even abstract plant patterns. The goal is to fill your sketchbook page with diverse green plant doodles, creating a rich visual tapestry. While I initially focused on using just one green pen for this particular drawing, I've found that combining different shades of green or even adding a touch of blue can create wonderful depth and dimension in your pen art. It really elevates the overall aesthetic and makes for amazing art ideas that pop off the page. So grab your favorite green pen – whether it's a Pilot Precise V5 or another rollerball – and a good quality sketchbook, like a Strathmore 5.5" x 8.5" size, and start your own journey of creating easy green plant doodles. It’s a fantastic way to develop your sketching skills, explore nature-inspired art, and enjoy a moment of mindful creativity.
